Gaming monitors are one of the most powerful tools for esports players, especially when it comes to notching up the gaming experience through wider viewing angles and faster refresh rates.

This year marks the third anniversary of the partnership between Samsung Electronics and T1, a South Korean esports team with a series of championship wins under its belt. Since 2020, Samsung has been providing T1 with Odyssey gaming monitors to showcase the company’s cutting-edge technology to gamers and audiences alike.

To celebrate the release of the 2023 gaming monitor lineup, Samsung unveiled a series of three brand videos featuring the 57-inch Odyssey Neo G9, the 49-inch Odyssey OLED G9 (G95SC) and the upgraded 55-inch Odyssey Ark (G97NC). These films were produced by renowned South Korean director Yunsung Kang — most known for “The Outlaws” (2017), “Long Live the King” (2019) and “Big Bet” (2022). In a modern-meets-medieval battle adventure, viewers can follow the T1 team and watch how Samsung gaming monitors play a shocking twist. Samsung Newsroom sat down with Director Yunsung Kang and T1 members ‘Keria’, ‘Gumayusi’, ‘Faker’, ‘Oner’ and ‘Zeus’ to learn more about their behind-the-scenes experience.

Q. What are your thoughts on the new Odyssey models?

‘Faker’: The Odyssey monitors just keep getting better. The new 57-inch Odyssey Neo G9 is truly impressive with its massive screen that commands attention. I didn’t realize its size from a distance, but I fully grasped its scale when I got closer. The Odyssey Neo G9 is the ideal choice for those who prefer a larger monitor.

‘Oner’: The Odyssey OLED G9 is so large that it almost resembles a TV, rather than a typical monitor. This could also be useful when watching videos.

‘Zeus’: All of the monitors boast huge dimensions. The ultra-wide screen helps me play League of Legends strategically, offering a wide view of the map and an incredibly immersive gaming experience.

Q. As a gamer, what is your top priority when choosing a monitor?

‘Faker’: Most gamers value response time and refresh rate. I prefer a monitor with a fast response time to minimize ghosting.

‘Oner’: Refresh rate is the most important factor for me. I always check whether a monitor supports a 240Hz refresh rate.

‘Keria’: Although I use a monitor with a 240Hz refresh rate, monitors with 144Hz or higher refresh rates are sufficient for most users.

‘Gumayusi’: Unlike some gamers, I’m not very sensitive to monitor specifications. However, since I’m used to high refresh rates, switching to low-quality specs could hinder my skills. I want to focus solely on the game itself.

‘Zeus’: I agree with ‘Oner’ — refresh rate is crucial for me too. I used to have a monitor with a 60Hz refresh rate, but the gaming experience was so much smoother once I switched to one with a higher refresh rate. I can’t imagine going back to a low-refresh rate monitor now.

Yoonsung Kang, the director behind the 2021 Odyssey Neo G9 brand film, has returned to work on the 2023 Odyssey brand films.

▲ Yoonsung Kang has directed many Odyssey brand films.

Q. What was your main objective when planning this Odyssey brand film?

Yoonsung Kang: My top priority for this project was to focus on the monitors’ immense size. As such, I planned a concept around a large-scale medieval battle to effectively showcase the Odyssey’s advantages.

Q. Can you share some of the highlights from this brand film?

Kang: One of the standout moments in these videos is the unexpected plot twist. The story follows the T1 team changing the course of a battle — then, a twist unfolds. Just when the members believe they won the battle, ‘Faker’ expands the screen to reveal more enemies approaching from both sides. It’s a plot twist that’s bound to captivate viewers.

Q. What was it like to step away from your usual game matches and daily training to participate in this brand film?

‘Oner’, ‘Zeus’ and ‘Keria’: We were truly impressed that the choreography incorporated our signature poses. While we were worried at first — we’re not dancers — the choreographer’s detailed directions helped us finish the project successfully. I hope our fans enjoy the videos.

‘Faker’: All in all, it was a new and refreshing experience. I’ve been on TV shows with numerous cameras before, but this was my first time dancing. I felt a bit awkward yet excited at the same time.

Q. Out of the Odyssey monitors you’ve had the chance to try out, which one is your favorite?

‘Faker’: My favorite is the 49-inch Odyssey OLED G9. I like its fast response time and sleek metal design on the back.

‘Zeus’: The 49-inch Odyssey OLED G9 is my top pick as well. The Infinity Core lighting displays mesmerizing rainbow colors, and the metal design gives the monitor a chic vibe.

‘Keria’: For me, the 57-inch Odyssey Neo G9 is the most appealing — the white and glossy back cover feels luxurious.

‘Gumayusi’: I’ve already used the Odyssey Ark at T1 HQ’s lounge and enjoyed the Multi View feature since I like to play multiple games simultaneously. Because I prefer large screens, my top choice is the 57-inch Odyssey Neo G9.

‘Oner’: It’s honestly difficult to pick just one. The new Odyssey models are amazing with their large screens and wide displays. I like them all.

Samsung Electronics today shared its plan to expand support for glasses-free 3D gameplay on the Samsung Odyssey 3D gaming monitor. At GDC Festival of Gaming 2026 in San Francisco, Samsung will spotlight Hell Is Us and Cronos: The New Dawn as part of its expanding 3D gaming ecosystem, demonstrating how leading titles are embracing immersive display without the need for special glasses.
“The Odyssey 3D is designed for gamers who want to experience their hobby in a way that feels like they’re completely embedded in the action,” said Kevin Lee, Executive Vice President of the Visual Display (VD) Business at Samsung Electronics. “Through partnerships with leading gaming studios, we are committed to creating an ecosystem of top-tier titles, making great games extraordinary.”

Gaming’s Most Acclaimed Titles Become Fully Immersive 3D Experiences — Expanding Partnerships With Leading Developers
Hell Is Us, the critically acclaimed action-adventure horror game from Rogue Factor, will arrive on Samsung’s Odyssey 3D ecosystem in March, becoming a part of the first wave of newly added 3D-enabled titles for 2026.
Cronos: The New Dawn, developed by Bloober Team, will join this expanding 3D gaming library by the end of the year. This survival horror game, which has received generally positive reviews from critics, will provide an immersive gaming experience by integrating with the 3D technology.
Both titles will be playable in 3D through the Samsung Odyssey 3D Hub, the company’s dedicated 3D content platform, which already supports over 60 titles.
In addition to 3D gaming technology, Samsung offers HDR10+ GAMING, which delivers optimized HDR performance to each game by automatically analyzing each scene and frame, thereby enhancing immersion. Since 2022, the company has integrated HDR10+ GAMING into its Odyssey gaming monitors and TVs featuring refresh rates above 120Hz.
Samsung has partnered with top video game studio CD PROJEKT RED as part of its commitment to advancing display technology alongside leading developers.
This collaboration will explore how technology can be advanced to increase the immersion of video games for players, and Samsung is already working with CD PROJEKT RED to integrate HDR10+ GAMING into its hit video game Cyberpunk 2077.
Additionally, Samsung announced the expansion of its HDR10+ GAMING partnership with Pearl Abyss. HDR10+ GAMING will be featured in Pearl Abyss’s upcoming open-world action-adventure game Crimson Desert, set to launch in March, ensuring gamers enjoy a premium HDR experience.

The Full Odyssey Experience Comes to GDC 2026
At GDC 2026, Samsung will host hands-on demo sessions for journalists and industry experts to gain an up-close look at its latest Odyssey monitors and an opportunity to play Hell Is Us in 3D before the public.
The demo sessions will feature Samsung’s Odyssey gaming monitor lineup:
27-inch Odyssey 3D (G90XF model): Glasses-free 3D gaming with advanced eye-tracking that delivers natural-looking depth and makes action jump off the screen. This glasses-free 3D gaming monitor will expand the lineup with the launch of a 32-inch model by the end of the year. 32-inch Odyssey OLED G8 (G80SH model): Stunning 4K QD-OLED at 240Hz with exceptional color and contrast, protected by Samsung OLED Safeguard+ technology. 32-inch Odyssey G8 (G80HS model): The industry’s first 6K gaming monitor, delivering native 165Hz performance with Dual Mode support up to 330Hz in 3K. This model also offers VESA-certified DisplayPort 2.1 (DP 2.1) connectivity, which supports smooth gaming and efficient video playback. 27-inch Odyssey G6 (G60H model): The world’s first 1,040Hz gaming monitor with Dual Mode, delivering esports-level motion clarity and responsiveness.
Odyssey 3D: Glasses-Free Gaming at Its Peak
While previous 3D approaches required either special glasses or sacrificed performance, the Odyssey 3D is a groundbreaking gaming monitor that delivers stunning 3D gameplay without compromise. Using advanced Eye Tracking and View Mapping technology, the monitor requires no glasses. It adjusts the 3D depth of the scene in response to the viewer’s position in real time, ensuring an optimized 3D effect.
Combined with a 165Hz refresh rate and 1ms GtG response time, the Odyssey 3D delivers smooth, responsive gameplay, resulting in a 3D effect that holds even during fast camera movement, gunfights and high-speed traversal — without the eye strain traditionally associated with 3D displays.
The addition of Hell Is Us and Cronos: The New Dawn expands Samsung’s 3D gaming library, which currently supports more than 60 titles — including The First Berserker: Khazan, Stellar Blade, Lies of P: Overture and MONGIL: STAR DIVE. With these additions, the company’s selection of 3D games is on track to reach over 120 titles by the end of 2026.

Samsung Electronics, a Worldwide Olympic and Paralympic Partner, today announced that it has supplied professional monitors to support officiating and broadcast operations for select short track speed skating disciplines at the Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026.
“In environments where critical decisions depend on what people see, visual accuracy and reliability matter,” said Hun Lee, Executive Vice President of the Visual Display (VD) Business at Samsung Electronics. “We’re proud to see our professional monitors used in these real-world settings, and we continue to focus on developing display technologies built on precision and trust.”
Short track speed skating is one of the fastest and most technically demanding sports in the Olympic Winter Games. Races are often decided by razor-thin margins — sometimes as little as 0.001 seconds — and outcomes can hinge on brief moments such as athlete contact or the precise positioning of a skate blade. In these situations, officials rely on high-speed camera systems and real-time video review to evaluate incidents and ensure fair competition.
To support this process across short track speed skating disciplines, professional Samsung monitors are used to enable real-time video review and competition monitoring. With the aid of these monitors, officials can clearly assess critical moments and confidently make rulings.

ViewFinity S8: Supporting Officiating With Clear, Reliable Visual Review
In officiating areas near the field of play at Milano Cortina 2026, Samsung’s 37-inch ViewFinity S8 monitors (S80UD model) have been deployed to support fair play through real-time video review and competition monitoring.
The ViewFinity S8 features a 4K UHD (3,840 × 2,160) resolution and a 16:9 aspect ratio, offering a larger viewing area that allows officials to examine fine details without compromising clarity. Compared to standard 32-inch displays, the expanded screen enables clearer inspection of close calls at the same magnification, helping officials review footage with greater confidence. HDR10 support further enhances contrast and color expression, ensuring faithful reproduction of video feeds during critical decision-making moments.

Odyssey Ark: Supporting Broadcast and Production Operations
Samsung monitors have also been installed in video rooms operated by Olympic Broadcasting Services (OBS), the official Olympic broadcaster for the International Olympic Committee (IOC). In these broadcast and production environments, Odyssey Ark supports teams monitoring multiple live feeds on a 55-inch display with a 1,000R curvature and 4K UHD (3,840 × 2,160) resolution.
Designed to enhance immersion while minimizing visual distortion, Odyssey Ark helps broadcast teams maintain a clear view of fast-paced action as competition intensity unfolds. A 1ms GtG1 response time supports consistent image clarity during dynamic scenes, contributing to smooth monitoring across live production workflows.

Bringing Advanced Monitor Display Technology to Global Sporting Events
During the Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026, Samsung is carrying out its global Olympic and Paralympic partnership campaign, “Open Always Wins.” First introduced at the Olympic and Paralympic Games Paris 2024, the campaign reflects the value of openness — embracing differences, rejecting discrimination and creating greater possibilities through collaboration. At Milano Cortina 2026, the message is shared alongside Team Samsung Galaxy, Samsung’s official Olympic and Paralympic athlete ambassadors.
Building on its experience supporting live competition and broadcast environments at Milano Cortina 2026, Samsung will continue developing monitor solutions optimized for global sporting events and complex on-site operations, supporting fair competition and seamless production under the most demanding conditions.
