Samsung Electronics today announced a new 14-meter standard size for its Onyx (ICD model) cinema LED lineup at CinemaCon 2026, expanding the platform into larger premium auditoriums. The new model is designed for Premium Large Format (PLF) theaters and delivers the same picture quality, reliability and scalability that define the Onyx platform at a larger scale.
As cinemas raise the bar on premium, differentiated experiences, larger-format auditoriums are becoming a key priority for exhibitors. Samsung’s new 14-meter format1 is designed to meet this demand — enabling greater immersion, optimized seating layouts and more efficient use of theater space.
“People go to premium theaters for something they cannot recreate at home,” said Hyoung Jae Kim, Executive Vice President of the Visual Display (VD) Business at Samsung Electronics. “That raises the bar for every part of the auditorium, starting with the screen. Samsung’s new 14-meter Onyx gives exhibitors a way to bring the premium experience to larger auditoriums, helping turn moviegoing into a destination again.”

Expanding Premium Cinema Experiences With Screens Up to 20 Meters
Since its debut in 2017, Samsung Onyx has broadened what cinema LED can deliver with deep blacks, rich color and striking contrast. Following last year’s launch of the 5-meter model for boutique theaters and the 10-meter model for premium auditoriums,2 Samsung is now expanding the lineup with a 14-meter standard size designed for larger theater environments.
The new model brings the same core Onyx experience — including support for up to 4K 120Hz,3 exceptional clarity and ultra-smooth motion — while introducing two distinctions tailored to the 14-meter format:
3.3mm pixel pitch: optimized for the 14-meter format to deliver sharp, consistent image quality on a larger screen. Flexible scaling support: enables the 14-meter format to expand up to 20 meters — more than doubling total screen area without compromising presentation quality. Individual LED cabinets can be added to the sides and bottom to achieve the desired size, creating a seamless, floor-to-ceiling visual experience. As the world’s first DCI-certified cinema LED display,4 Onyx supports both scope (2.39:1) and flat (1.85:1) aspect ratios. Samsung’s HDR technology delivers peak brightness of up to 300 nits — approximately six times brighter than conventional cinema standards.5 Onyx also achieves 100% color volume at peak brightness, while its infinite contrast ratio enables true black levels for deeper immersion and greater detail in dark scenes.
Beyond traditional movie screenings, Onyx is also well-suited for alternative content such as live sports, concerts, gaming events and corporate presentations. Unlike conventional projection-based systems, the Onyx LED screen delivers consistent brightness and image quality regardless of screen size or seating position. Compatibility with Dolby and GDC media servers also helps support streamlined theater management.

Onyx Builds on Global Adoption Across Premium Cinemas
Since launching the latest Onyx lineup (ICD model) last year, Samsung has expanded its presence in premium cinema through growing exhibitor adoption and high-profile installations. One of the latest examples is Pathé Dar Essalam in Rabat, Morocco, where the latest Onyx has been installed as part of a newly developed premium cinema complex in the city’s luxury district.
Designed in collaboration with Pathé’s headquarters, the venue is positioned as a flagship destination comparable to Pathé Palace in Paris, with all four auditoriums equipped with Onyx displays in 10-meter, 5-meter and scaled 6.4-meter configurations. With 12 Onyx screens in total — including four of the latest Onyx screens — Pathé now operates more Onyx screens than any other cinema company in Europe.
Samsung’s momentum with the latest Onyx lineup also extends to the United States. In December 2025, Trilith Cinemas in Fayetteville, Georgia became the first U.S. theater to premiere the latest generation of Samsung Onyx cinema LED screens, installing them across 5 auditoriums. Located in one of the country’s most active production communities, the theater offers audiences a setting that matches the scale, visual detail and creative intent of the production process.
“The future of exhibition is driven by innovations that elevate how audiences experience film,” said Bo Chambliss, President of Georgia Theatre Company. “Partnering with Samsung to bring the latest Onyx Cinema LED to GTC Trilith Cinemas marks a meaningful step forward. With exceptional brightness, contrast and color accuracy, Onyx sets a new standard for image performance while remaining true to the filmmaker’s intent. Its reliability allows us to deliver a consistently premium experience for our guests — a natural fit for a location so closely connected to the creative community.”
Attendees at CinemaCon 2026 can learn more about Samsung’s latest cinema innovations at Samsung’s booth in Roman Ballroom 1&2 at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, featuring the latest Onyx cinema LED display, glasses-free 3D Spatial Signage and a 115-inch digital signage display. Running April 13-16, CinemaCon is the official convention of Cinema United and the motion picture theater industry’s largest annual gathering.

Samsung Electronics today announced that its Micro RGB TV (R95H model) has received both the Safety for Eyes and Circadian Rhythm Display (CRD) certifications from Verband Deutscher Elektrotechniker (VDE), a leading global testing institute based in Germany.
Derived from VDE’s broader EyeCare Circadian certification, these certifications adopt a more refined evaluation framework, independently verifying eye safety and circadian rhythm support for a more rigorous assessment of display performance. This shift provides consumers with a more comprehensive assurance of comfortable viewing experiences.
Specifically, the Safety for Eyes certification evaluates display safety for prolonged viewing by analyzing light emissions from digital devices, with a particular focus on blue light and its impact on eye health. Meanwhile, the CRD certification examines how well a display supports the user’s biological clock. It measures the display’s ability to mimic natural light by adjusting color temperature and brightness based on time of day, while also reducing blue light in the evening to prevent melatonin suppression — supporting natural circadian rhythm and visual comfort.
Samsung’s Micro RGB meets the rigorous standards set by both certifications, demonstrating its commitment to eye safety and comfort. The display’s advanced Micro RGB LED architecture is especially noteworthy in that it finely adjusts brightness and color to create optimal viewing conditions at any time of day.
Having secured Safety for Eyes certification for its 2026 TV lineup and CRD for premium models, Samsung is now expanding CRD certification to a broader range of products.
“Micro RGB TV is setting a new standard in the premium TV market by being verified for both eye safety and circadian rhythm support,” said Taeyong Son, Executive Vice President of the Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics. “We will continue to deliver display technologies that consider our users’ viewing environments and enhance their lifestyles.”

Samsung Electronics today announced the global launch of the 13-inch Samsung Color E-Paper (EM13DX model), expanding its Color E-Paper lineup with the world’s first display designed with a bio-resin housing derived from phytoplankton. The paper‑thin display uses advanced digital ink technology and ultra‑low power to offer businesses a practical alternative to traditional printed signage.
“As businesses look for more flexible and efficient ways to communicate, Samsung Color E-Paper represents a shift in how digital signage fits into everyday operations,” said Hyoung Jae Kim, Executive Vice President of the Visual Display (VD) Business at Samsung Electronics. “By incorporating innovative technology such as phytoplankton-based bio-resin, we’re demonstrating our commitment to advancing both display technology and the materials behind it. Our Color E-Paper products are designed to replace paper with ultra-low power performance and ultra-slim, lightweight designs.”

Paper‑Like Color and Clarity for Modern Digital Displays
As the smallest model in the lineup, the new 13-inch Samsung Color E-Paper offers businesses a compact display option for shelves, counters, tables and doors where traditional paper signage is still widely used. Similar in scale to A4 paper, the display delivers 1,600 x 1,200 resolution in a 4:3 aspect ratio.
With a rechargeable, embedded battery, USB Type-C support and flexible mounting options,1 the display can be deployed without permanent power cables. Its ultra-slim 17.9mm design weighs just 0.9kg with the battery, making it easy to install and reposition across different placements as campaigns change. Samsung’s advanced color imaging algorithm enhances color accuracy and readability to deliver a paper-like look and feel. By smoothing gradations and refining contours, it produces vivid visuals that resemble traditional posters and point-of-purchase displays, helping businesses transition naturally from printed materials to digital signage.

Pioneering Lower‑Impact Signage With Bio‑Based Materials
Samsung’s 13-inch Color E-Paper is the world’s first commercial display to apply a bio-resin derived from phytoplankton in its housing. The display’s housing has been independently verified by global safety and sustainability certification organization UL to consist of 45% recycled plastic and 10% phytoplankton-based bio-resin. This material innovation was developed as an alternative to conventional petroleum-based plastics, which can reduce carbon emissions in the manufacturing process by more than 40%.2
Sustainability is carefully considered in every part of the display, from the housing to the packaging. The entire packaging, including the box, cushion and accessory box, is made from 100% paper.
Day-to-day operation is designed to be just as efficient. The display maintains static images at zero watts power, reducing unnecessary energy usage without compromising reliability.3 When content is updated, overall energy4 use remains far lower than that of conventional digital signage, which helps lower operating costs over time.

Easy Content Control With Samsung E-Paper App and Samsung VXT
Samsung’s 13-inch Color E-Paper supports simple content control for both local and remote operation. The Samsung E-Paper App, available on Android and iOS, allows staff to update and manage local content directly from personal devices, without the need for an additional remote control.
The display is also compatible with Samsung VXT, a cloud-based content and remote device management platform that lets teams remotely manage hardware settings, troubleshoot issues and create and deploy content with minimal training. For Color E-Paper, Samsung VXT includes dedicated features to optimize content visibility, as well as a preview function that allows teams to check color accuracy before deployment.
Alongside the new 13-inch display, Samsung will unveil a 20-inch model for the first time at ISE 2026, a world-renowned audiovisual and systems integration tech show held in Barcelona from Feb. 3-6. With this expansion of the Color E-Paper lineup beyond the existing 32-inch model offering, the Color E-Paper portfolio is increasingly designed to support a wide range of business needs.
Samsung continues to lead the global digital signage market, securing a 36.2% global market share by volume in Q3 2025, building on its 17-year position as the world’s leading commercial display provider.5
The EM13DX series includes two rear holders, two hanging brackets and two simple stands. Additional installation accessories may be required, depending on the setup, and are sold separately. ︎ Based on internal test results under specific conditions only. Comparison is made against petroleum-based resin (PC+ABS) of the same weight. Carbon emissions calculation is based on the Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) data of resin production following ISO 14067, 14040 and 14044 standards, covering carbon emissions from cradle to gate (excluding downstream, use-phase and end-of-life emissions). All figures are estimates based on available data and are subject to change. ︎ Activities related to content refresh, content changes or device monitoring and control will require additional power. Content refresh is essential and automatically performed when the power cable or battery is connected. ︎ Battery duration may vary based on factors including network environment, hardware components and user activity. ︎ Consumer TVs are excluded. Across the globe, Samsung’s professional display showrooms serve as launchpads for business innovation. Each space is designed to meet local market needs, fostering collaboration between clients and Samsung experts. Building on the story of Samsung’s Connected Experience Center in Irvine, California, the Frankfurt showroom provides a distinctly pan-European platform where ideas are tested, and Samsung’s vision of innovating displays beyond boundaries becomes reality.

Since opening in 2018, Samsung’s Showcase & Training Centre in Frankfurt (the Frankfurt showroom) has played a central role in the region’s B2B strategy. What began as a space focused on LED technology has evolved into a full-scale engagement hub that highlights Samsung’s latest innovations — from The Wall and Cinema LED Onyx to Color E-Paper, Spatial Signage, various AI solutions, and VXT — the company’s cloud-native CMS for digital signage.

▲ The Frankfurt showroom offers an engaging environment where clients can explore Samsung’s latest display innovations and collaborative solutions.

At the showroom, clients are guided through immersive demonstrations that go beyond product features. The space allows decision-makers to see real-world solutions in action, align stakeholders, and move quickly from idea to execution. Samsung Newsroom spoke with four members of the European business to learn more about the company’s professional display business.

▲ (From left) Erica Cassells, Event Manager (Europe); Joachim Wieczorek, Head of Sales LED Signage (Germany); Anna Mindnich, Head of B2B Marketing CE (Germany); and Steven Pollok, Director of Display Division (Germany).

From Showcase to Ecosystem: A Strategic Hub for European Display
The showroom has transformed into a working strategy lab where Samsung presents not just products, but integrated ecosystems. The evolution happened as clients are increasingly interested in platform compatibility, wireless sharing, and end-to-end security. Now with Samsung’s VXT solution, for example, visitors can see firsthand how digital signage content is scheduled, distributed, and monitored seamlessly.

“Clients rarely come in looking for a single screen,” said Joachim Wieczorek, Head of LED Sales. “They want confidence in a solution — and that means seeing how the technology works, how it fits into their environment, and how it’s supported long-term.”

Another trend is that clients increasingly want to understand Samsung’s broader ecosystem and its security model — especially in corporate and public sector environments. “When it comes to sensitive data or high-security environments, that control matters,” Wieczorek said. “We often hear from clients that they want fewer third parties involved — and the showroom gives them a chance to see how our full stack works together.”

▲ Joachim Wieczorek, Head of LED Sales in Germany, guides clients through Samsung’s flagship LED solutions.

This approach has reshaped client engagements. Materna, a German IT and service management firm, initially came to view a single LED wall. After experiencing the full ecosystem, the team found opportunities to leverage a solution, rather than a single product, to increase business operation value. Materna left with a comprehensive vision that included LED, LCD, and Samsung VXT — an integrated solution that demonstrated the value of end-to-end collaboration with Samsung.

“The focus is no longer on resolution or price — it becomes about performance, scalability, and the confidence that Samsung can deliver,” Wieczorek added.

▲ Materna uses Samsung displays to create welcoming reception areas (left) and dynamic presentation spaces (right) that support collaboration and client engagement.

Toyota Motor also turned to the Frankfurt showroom to explore a unified digital transformation across its dealership network. The visit repositioned Samsung from vendor to strategic partner, demonstrating capabilities in standardization, streamlined procurement, and scalability across regions.

▲ Toyota delivers a consistent brand experience with 23,000 Samsung Smart Signage displays installed across 1,250 dealerships in 40 countries.

For AEG, one of Germany’s largest live entertainment groups, an initial meeting about Berlin’s Uber Arena expanded into a larger partnership, eventually leading to installations at Hamburg’s Barclays Arena and a broader marketing collaboration. “That visit was a turning point,” said Anna Mindnich, Head of B2B Marketing CE. “It helped us build trust and ultimately grow the relationship into something much bigger.”

Introducing Innovation: Helping the Industry Move Forward
From dedicated planner days for educators to retail walkthroughs and corporate demos, the Frankfurt showroom delivers experiences that make Samsung’s technology feel both tangible and tailored to each client’s unique needs.

▲ Samsung’s 4K Smart Signage lineup, ranging from 32” to 98”, is displayed side by side at the Frankfurt showroom.

Retail and corporate clients are especially drawn to Samsung’s Color E-Paper, which combines dynamic signage capabilities with ultra-low power consumption. From wayfinding to room signage and environmental design, Mindnich noted that many clients discover new applications during their visit.

▲ Samsung Color E-Paper offers a next-gen signage solution with ultra-low power consumption. Featuring a sleek and lightweight design, it is a more sustainable and flexible display alternative for businesses.

At the heart of the showroom is The Wall, Samsung’s modular MICRO LED display. Its fine pitch and flexibility allow for unique applications, from corporate lobbies to automotive design studios. Samsung’s Cinema LED Onyx was recently introduced in response to demand for immersive large-format displays in the entertainment industry.

Steven Pollok, Director of Display Division, notes that the corporate sector remains one of the largest verticals for LED business in Europe, especially when it comes to all-in-one screens for lobby displays and luxury lifestyle brands’ boardrooms.

“In several cases, seeing is believing. After visiting the showroom and experiencing the entire lineup of Samsung’s signage and solutions, clients can get internal buy-in more quickly to turn a visit into a full-scale project with our integrated offerings,” Pollok said.

▲ Pollok explains Samsung’s MicroLED technology (left), with The Wall showcased in multiple configurations from 0.84mm to 1.64mm at the Frankfurt showroom (right).

Pollok also notes that visits to the Frankfurt showroom are deeply integrated into Samsung’s regional sales strategy. Many installations across Europe begin with a hands-on visit, often hosted in collaboration with a channel partner. “It helps customers understand what’s possible — and helps our partners communicate that in their own markets,” Pollok explains.

▲ Samsung Onyx, the world’s first DCI-certified cinema LED, delivers true black levels, infinite contrast, and exceptional color accuracy. The latest Onyx (ICD model) launched at CineEurope 2025.

Clients can also experience Samsung’s Spatial Signage, another recent innovation, in Frankfurt. This slim and lightweight display creates realistic 3D depth without the need for 3D glasses. This innovation was recognized as IFA 2025 Innovation Award Honoree.

▲ Erica Cassells highlights Spatial Signage, a sleek solution for creating engaging, glasses-free 3D experiences.

For All Europe: Where Ideas Become Action
As the only pan-European display space of its kind, the European Display Showcase & Training Centre hosts clients and teams from across the continent for immersive workshops, events, and consultations. “We built this as a European showcase for a reason,” adds Erica Cassells, Event Manager. “Subsidiaries and customers come here for internal reviews, launch briefings, or just to see what’s possible. It gives us a first look at how new products are landing with real customers.”
