Samsung Electronics today announced the global availability of its all-new Smart Monitor, an innovative, do-it-all screen that brings together an unprecedented suite of features for work, learning and entertainment in a single display.

Designed to meet the new needs of today’s consumers, who are now working, learning and consuming entertainment at home, Samsung Smart Monitor incorporates powerful mobile and PC connectivity, remote home office and learning features as well as Smart Hub, a comprehensive entertainment hub, similar to Samsung’s built-in Smart TV platform.

“Around the world, work, education and entertainment have transformed into home-centered activities,” said Hyesung Ha, Senior Vice President of Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics. “With this new normal, it is no surprise that most indicators show a rise in digital activities and many are rethinking their technology use at home. Our new Smart Monitor is a direct response to that demand. Consumers no longer have to choose between a screen for one or the other as this display brings it all together.”

The new Samsung Smart Monitor provides numerous connectivity options for both PCs and smartphones. Users can connect their personal mobile devices with just a simple tap using Tap View,1 App Casting or Apple AirPlay 2. For a complete desktop experience using a mobile device, users can also connect to the monitor with Samsung DeX.

For home office and learning, the display operates Microsoft Office 365 applications2 without a PC connection thanks to embedded Wi-Fi, allowing users to view, edit and save documents in the cloud directly from the monitor. Remote Access also allows users wirelessly and remotely access files from a PC or view content from a laptop whether it is situated elsewhere in the house or at the office. The USB Type-C port3 allows for data, display and power — up to 65W — with just a single connection, keeping the area around the monitor clean and beautiful. Multiple USB ports and Bluetooth 4.2 allow for additional connection versatility while the display has built-in two channel speaker.

When work is done, the display also operates as a complete entertainment hub with the ability to stream content with Samsung’s Smart Hub. The monitor’s app store allows users to stream their favorite content including Netflix, HBO and YouTube4 even without a connection to a PC or mobile device. Content can easily be accessed with the supplied remote control, which includes streaming service hot keys. The display can also be controlled by voice thanks to Bixby integration.

The Smart Monitor also features technology designed to make viewing more comfortable. Adaptive Picture optimizes picture quality for any viewing environment by automatically adjusting brightness and color temperature in response to room conditions. This ensures the most comfortable viewing experience in any environment, reducing eye strain even after extended use. The monitor also features a special eye-saver mode to reduce blue light.

The monitor is available in two models at launch. The M7 supports Ultra-High Definition (UHD) resolution in 32-inch while the M5 supports Full HD (FHD) resolution in 32-inch and 27-inch options.

The Samsung Smart Monitor will be available from November 16 in United States, Canada and China, and Samsung plans to expand launching markets starting the end of November. For more information, please visit https://displaysolutions.samsung.com/monitor/detail/1762/32M70A.

Samsung Electronics today announced SmartThings Pro and next-generation display technologies for its award-winning digital signage lineup. The announcement is part of the company’s participation at InfoComm, the largest professional audio-visual industry trade show in North America, held in Las Vegas from June 12 to 14.

At Booth W1225, Samsung will showcase SmartThings Pro, an evolution of SmartThings with business-focused capabilities; Samsung Color E-Paper, an ultra-low power, lightweight and slim digital paper display; exclusive new generative AI functions for the Interactive Whiteboard (WAD series); and the new Samsung Business TV BED series, a UHD TV with flexible functionality for businesses across different sectors. These solutions will be displayed throughout InfoComm, with Samsung providing demonstrations and educational sessions to highlight the products’ wide-ranging benefits.

“We are pleased to introduce a variety of new solutions, services and products at this year’s InfoComm,” said Hoon Chung, Executive Vice President of Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics. “Building on our legacy of being ranked No.1 in signage sales for 15 consecutive years, we are using this event to showcase our latest solutions that cater to diverse business needs.”

SmartThings Pro Brings New Intelligence to Business Environments

SmartThings Pro extends Samsung’s hyper-connected smart home technology to business environments, enhancing sustainability, automating operations and improving the overall business experience. To better support business-to-business (B2B) customers, SmartThings Pro offers customizable Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) for seamless integration. It also features AI Energy Mode, an intelligent power saving technology that reduces energy consumption based on ambient brightness, content analysis and motion detection. This energy-saving algorithm is available for Samsung products connected to the SmartThings Pro ecosystem.

Additionally, SmartThings Pro enables users to check the connection status of various IoT devices through a user-friendly dashboard. This dashboard provides AI to analyze connected devices, helping users use their devices more efficiently and adopt energy-saving practices.

Beyond individual users, SmartThings Pro will also improve the general operations of connected devices in corporate environments, including SMART Signage, hospitality displays, air conditioning systems, digital appliances and much more. It also helps corporate clients manage various environmental factors such as temperature, humidity, lighting more effectively by linking various IoT products. It also integrates sensors like cameras to enhance monitoring and control capabilities. These features help users automate daily configurations and setups, resulting in more efficient and sustainable operations while reducing overall business costs.

Many of Samsung’s partners already plan to use the available APIs. Some of these partners include:

Cisco, which will demonstrate API integrations with Cisco video devices at InfoComm and show how to integrate them with Webex Control Hub for scaled deployments. Aqara, which will enhance the Smart Hotel experience through co-operating experiences. Quividi, which will build a retail analytics solution with its online data center, VidiCenter, leveraging its new partnership with Samsung.
“We will further enhance Samsung’s IoT solutions for the B2B market through SmartThings Pro,” said Chanwoo Park, Executive Vice President at Samsung Electronics. “Our customized solutions strengthen display performance in apartment buildings, residential spaces, public facilities like schools and commercial spaces like retail, hotels and offices. SmartThings will not only improve performance for these operators, but it will reduce cost.”

Color E-Paper: Extremely Efficient, Lightweight and Slim Display for Businesses

Samsung will unveil its ultra-low power display, Samsung Color E-Paper (EMDX model), for the first time at InfoComm. Seamlessly blending digital ink with innovative full-color e-paper technology, this new signage can replace analog or paper promotional materials.

The new product offers a more eco-conscious alternative to traditional promotional methods while delivering the high-visibility signage businesses need. The Samsung Color E-Paper operates at 0.00W1 when displaying static image and consumes significantly less power than traditional digital signage when changing images. Additionally, managers can remotely control the Color E-Paper, setting schedules to save energy with automatic wake-up and sleep times.

The 32-inch screen is equipped with QHD (2,560 x 1,440) resolution and a 60,000-color gamut (six colors per pixel: red, yellow, green, blue, white and black). Weighing only 2.9kg and measuring 17.9mm in width,2 it can be seamlessly installed in various locations, such as walls, tables or even ceilings, without additional mounts. This flexibility allows businesses and advertisers to deploy the Color E-Paper in multiple locations to effectively engage audiences while reducing operational costs.

Samsung Color E-Paper includes a dedicated mobile app3 that allows users to easily create or change content. It also supports the Samsung VXT solution, enabling real-time monitoring and remote integrated management of multiple displays simultaneously. The VXT CMS Canvas also offers a variety of templates optimized for E-paper displays, making it easier to produce content across different verticals.

For charging and data transmission, the Color E-Paper features two USB-C type ports and supports Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. It also includes 8GB of flash memory, an interchangeable bezel that allows users to change colors of the frame4 and VESA5 standard wall mount compatibility6 to provide users with enhanced connectivity, customization options and flexible mounting solutions.

The Color E-Paper panel utilizes the innovative E Ink Spectra 6 technology, a groundbreaking color solution designed for in-store advertising, indoor signage and replacing paper posters. It features an enhanced color spectrum and advanced color imaging algorithm to improve marketing and advertising performance.

“We’re excited to announce our partnership with Samsung to unveil the innovative 32-inch E Ink Spectra 6 for the signage market,” said Dr. FY Gan, President of E Ink Holdings. “This collaboration highlights our commitment to a brighter future with display solutions. By merging E Ink’s cutting-edge color e-Paper technology with Samsung’s signage expertise, we are poised to deliver low-power color displays that revolutionize digital promotion and communication, while enhancing sustainability strategies.”

Interactive Whiteboard: AI Capabilities Boost the Learning Experience

First announced at ISE,7 the Interactive Whiteboard (WAD series) will make a grand entrance at InfoComm, loaded with new features that include generative AI capabilities.

New AI-powered features include automatic transcriptions from spoken lessons and the ability to generate detailed class summaries that highlight key points and main topics. By analyzing the teacher’s voice transcription, the written material on the display and provided educational materials, it can also generate quizzes for students. It also uses machine learning to improve content accuracy and block inappropriate content.

Additionally, through a collaboration with educational technology company Merlyn Mind, the display will feature voice recognition technology optimized for educational environments. This will simplify control of the Interactive Display and help tailor its functionalities to align with school-specific curricula.

“We are delighted to collaborate with Samsung Electronics, a global leader in educational technology and innovation,” said Dr. Satya Nitta, the CEO of Merlyn Mind. “Samsung has a long history of bringing advanced technology to classrooms, starting with Chromebooks over a decade ago. Together, we will continue to integrate our purpose-built AI for education with Samsung’s solutions to create more engaging and effective learning environments.”

These capabilities will roll out for all three different-sized models later in the year, providing more convenient usability and a higher contextual learning environment.

At InfoComm, Samsung will also showcase the Samsung Business TV BED series, offering UHD picture quality and flexible functionality. Available in a range of sizes8 – 43, 50, 55, 60, 65, 70, 75 or 85 inches – the TV can fit into almost any space, making it an optimal choice to enhance both the style and functionality of various environments. Samsung Electronics today announced the global launch of its 2024 Odyssey OLED gaming monitor, Smart Monitor and ViewFinity monitor lineups.

These new and updated models bring features that people want — as well as some they don’t expect — to deliver new experiences, no matter how they use their monitors. The Odyssey lineup brings a next-level OLED experience and new AI capabilities1 to the Odyssey OLED G8; the Smart Monitor lineup heightens joy with more enhanced entertainment features, plus the Smart Monitor M8 powered by AI; and the ViewFinity lineup boosts connectivity to create a complete workstation.

“Our latest monitor lineups deliver a breadth of options to users globally and create better experiences, no matter how people use them,” said Hoon Chung, Executive Vice President of Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics. “From the groundbreaking AI-powered Odyssey OLED gaming monitor to multi-device experiences in the Smart Monitor and ViewFinity lineups, Samsung remains committed to redefining the market and delivering cutting-edge technologies to users everywhere.”

Odyssey OLED Series: Visual Excellence With New Burn-In Prevention Features

The 2024 Odyssey OLED models expand Samsung’s offerings of next-generation OLED performance with the new Odyssey OLED G8 (G80SD model) and Odyssey OLED G6 (G60SD model).

The Odyssey OLED G8 is the first flat 32” Samsung OLED gaming monitor with 4K UHD (3840 x 2160) resolution and a 16:9 aspect ratio. It has a 240Hz refresh rate and 0.03ms gray-to-gray (GtG) response time for ultra smooth and responsive gameplay. The Odyssey OLED G6 is a 27” QHD (2560 x 1440) resolution monitor, supporting a 16:9 aspect ratio. Its 360Hz refresh rate and 0.03ms GtG response time make it easy for gamers to keep up with fast-moving gameplay.

The new Odyssey OLED G8 is Samsung’s first OLED gaming monitor powered by AI. The NQ8 AI Gen3 processor, which is the same processor Samsung uses in its 2024 8K TV, upscales content to nearly 4K when using Samsung Gaming Hub2 and the monitor’s native Smart TV apps for higher resolution in gaming and entertainment.3

Both new OLED models feature Samsung OLED Safeguard+, a new proprietary burn-in protection technology. This technology is the first in the world to prevent burn-in by applying a pulsating heat pipe to the monitor. Additionally, the Dynamic Cooling System evaporates and condenses a coolant to diffuse heat five times more effectively than the older graphite sheet method, which prevents burn-in by reducing temperature at the core. The monitor also detects static images like logos and taskbars, automatically reducing their brightness to provide another means of burn-in prevention.4

The Odyssey OLED G8 and OLED G6 both deliver unmatched OLED picture quality with a brightness of 250 nits (Typ.), while FreeSync Premium Pro keeps the GPU and display panel synced up to eliminate choppiness, screen lag and screen tearing.

Samsung’s new OLED Glare Free technology5 also preserves color accuracy and reduces reflections while maintaining image sharpness to ensure an immersive viewing experience, even in daylight. The OLED-optimized, low-reflection coating overcomes the trade-off between gloss and reflection thanks to a new, specialized hard-coating layer and surface coating pattern.

Both monitors feature a super slim metal design that gives them a distinct identity, while Core Lighting+ enhances entertainment and gaming experiences with ambient lighting that synchronizes with the screen. The ergonomic stand also makes long sessions more comfortable with adjustable height, plus tilt and swivel support.

The new Odyssey OLED monitors are the next entry to expand Samsung’s OLED monitor market leadership. Their release comes after Samsung achieved the top position in global sales in the OLED monitor market within only one year of launching its first OLED model.6 This achievement underscores Samsung’s rapid ascent in the competitive landscape of OLED monitors while reinforcing its commitment to diversifying its gaming monitor lineup with models that leverage the company’s proprietary OLED technology.

Smart Monitor M8: AI Processing for Crystal Clear Video and Audio

The upgraded 32” 4K UHD Smart Monitor M8 introduces new features powered by AI with the NQM AI processor, taking entertainment experiences to the next level. AI upscaling brings lower resolution content up to nearly 4K,7 and Active Voice Amplifier Pro uses AI to analyze background noise in the user’s environment to optimize dialogue in the user’s content.8 360 Audio Mode9 is available on the M8, which pairs with Galaxy Buds to create an immersive sound environment. The built-in SlimFit Camera also makes it easy to conduct video calls through mobile applications with Samsung Dex.10

New to the entire line of Smart Monitors is a Workout Tracker,11 which pairs with a Galaxy Watch to enable real-time health data on the screen, even while streaming content. This makes it easier to track workout goals and can make working out more enjoyable.

These new features enhance the already impressive Smart Monitor functionality. Smart TV apps and Samsung TV Plus12 provide instant access to a wide range of streaming services and live content, without needing to boot up a PC or connect to other devices.13

The M7 is available in 32” and 43” with 4K UHD (3840 x 2160) resolution, a brightness of 300 nits (Typ.) and a gray to gray (GtG) response time of 4ms. The M5 is available in 27” and 32”, with FHD resolution (1920 x 1080), a brightness of 250 nits (Typ.) and a GtG response time of 4ms.

Samsung Electronics, a global leader in the display industry, has secured the top position in global sales of OLED monitors just one year after launching its first OLED model — the 34″ Odyssey OLED G8 (G85SB model), a gaming monitor.

According to the International Data Corporation (IDC), Samsung Electronics has taken the top position in the global OLED monitor market by capturing 34.7% of market share based on total revenue, and the top position in market share based on sales volume with 28.3% of OLED monitors sold in 2023.1

“The OLED monitor market is highly competitive, so reaching the top spot requires unparalleled innovation and product quality,” said Hoon Chung, Executive Vice President of Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics. “This achievement speaks to our drive for excellence and understanding of consumer needs, the key factors in producing outstanding OLED monitors for performance-demanding gamers around the globe.”

Samsung has also maintained its leadership in the overall global gaming monitor market for the fifth consecutive year, recording a market share of 20.8% in terms of total revenue.2

Since entering the OLED market, Samsung has continued to innovate and receive praise for new monitors, including the Odyssey OLED G9 (G95SC model), which received widespread acclaim from experts and reviewers worldwide.

At CES 2024, Samsung announced an expansion of its OLED monitor lineup, unveiling three new products:

The Odyssey OLED G8 (G80SD model), with a 32” 4K UHD resolution, a 16:9 aspect ratio, 240Hz refresh rate and 0.03ms response time (GtG)3 The Odyssey OLED G6 (G60SD model), with a 27” QHD resolution, a 16:9 aspect ratio, 360Hz refresh rate and 0.03ms response time (GtG) An updated Odyssey OLED G9 (G95SD model), with 49” dual QHD resolution in a 32:9 aspect ratio, a 240Hz refresh rate and 0.03ms response time (GtG) and new features
The new OLED offerings have impressed early reviewers, and have already won awards. At CES — the most powerful tech event in the world — the Odyssey OLED G9 was named a CES® 2024 Innovation Awards Honoree.4

Samsung will continue to diversify its gaming monitor lineup by introducing new Odyssey OLED models, each of which will leverage Samsung’s proprietary OLED technology. This innovation follows the success of the Odyssey Neo series with Quantum Mini LED technology, as well as the Odyssey Ark, which showcased a groundbreaking interface and form factor.

Samsung Electronics today announced that it has been named the number one signage manufacturer for the fifteenth consecutive year by market research firm Omdia, once again demonstrating its leadership in the global digital signage market.1

According to Omdia, in 2023 Samsung not only led the global signage market with a 33% market share, but also sold over 2 million units — a record-breaking number for the company.2

“Achieving first place in the global display signage market for 15 consecutive years reflects our commitment to innovation and our ability to adapt to evolving market conditions and the needs of our customers,” said Hoon Chung, Executive Vice President of Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics. “We will continue to provide the highest value to our customers by offering specialized devices, solutions and services that address their diverse needs.”

Samsung Electronics is regularly introducing differentiated signage products that meet various business environment needs.

The Wall, the world’s first modular display with micro LED technology. Thanks to its modular format, The Wall allows customers to adjust the sign’s size, ratio and shape based on preference and use case. Smart Signage, which provides an excellent sense of immersion with its ultra-slim profile and uniform bezel design. Outdoor Signage tailored for sports, landmark markets, and electric vehicle charging stations. The screens in the Outdoor Signage portfolio are designed for clear visibility in any weather environment. Samsung Interactive Display, an e-board optimized for the education market that puts educational tools at the fingertips of educators and students.
The expansion of The Wall lineup is a clear indication of Samsung’s innovations and leading technology. Products like The Wall All-in-One and The Wall for Virtual Production were chosen by customers for their exceptional convenience and unique use cases, while The Wall has been selected as the display of choice for luxury hotels like Atlantis The Royal in Dubai and Hilton Waikiki Beach in Hawaii.

Samsung’s leadership in the digital signage industry can be attributed to the company’s commitment to product and service innovation. For example, the introduction of the world’s first transparent Micro LED display in January was noted by industry experts as the next generation of commercial display, earning accolades such as “Most Mind-Blowing LED” and “Best Transparent Display” from the North American AV news outlet, rAVe.

The recent introduction of the Samsung Visual eXperience Transformation (VXT) platform further demonstrates Samsung’s commitment to display innovation. This cloud-native platform combines content and remote signage operations on a single, secure platform, offering services and solutions that go beyond just hardware while ensuring seamless operation and management for users.

Looking ahead, the global display signage market is poised for rapid growth, with an expected annual increase of 8% leading to a projected market size of $24.6 billion by 2027, up from $14 billion in 2020.3
