Versatility is one of the greatest strengths of Samsung’s award-winning lifestyle TV, The Frame. Not only does it offer customization to fit any home décor and stunning QLED picture quality, but the Art Store also transforms the user’s display into a window to the world. With over 1,500 pieces to choose from, including world-renowned artworks like Vincent Van Gogh’s ‘Starry Night’ and partnerships with Magnum Photos, Etsy and a host of museums, the Art Store lets consumers embark on a premium virtual travel experience from the comfort of their home.

With July bearing the curation theme of ‘Summer Vibes’, Samsung Newsroom is introducing photographer Dean West, who travels across continents to take pictures that capture things like the intensity of the desert heat, the refreshing first step into a luxury pool and the feeling of the sun on a tropical beach. West strives to give viewers an escape from reality with his art, and always finds himself coming back to landscapes that are warm and bright – or, as he describes them, “the places you’d rather be.”

With West’s work perfectly encapsulating the theme of ‘Summer Vibes’, Newsroom spoke to the photographer about some of his top picks from the Art Store and why The Frame is the ideal platform for displaying his work.

Showcasing Carefully Crafted Scenes With Quantum Dot Technology

Vibrant colors are a key aspect of West’s artfully orchestrated scenes. “When photographing a scene, I always try to capture the essence or the feeling of a place,” says West. “Color is one way of communicating that. For example, when capturing my pool scenes, the feeling I’m going for is that moment when you first take off your sunglasses – when the sun bounces off the walls into the glistening pool. A colorful array of swimsuits and sunscreen-soaked skin are made visible, and color plays a beautiful role in capturing that essence.”

The Frame’s QLED 4K picture quality offers the perfect medium for West’s work to be showcased to thousands across the globe. Quantum Dot technology allows more than a billion colors to be displayed at 100% color volume, allowing West’s artistic intent to shine through on a bright screen with vivid and accurate color reproduction. The cutting-edge display technology analyzes every piece of each image and adjusts the contrast to give it an enhanced sense of depth and color for a stunning result every time.

“The technology used provides such a harmonious viewing experience that it has to be seen to be believed,” relates West. “The display’s ability to reproduce color and light is so good that photographers and viewers from around the world can’t help but express their admiration. On top of this, The Frame gives users from all corners of the globe quality access to works that they may otherwise never have seen. This alone is something I truly respect.”

West describes ‘art’ as a series of complex images that blend into a single idea. He adds, “Understanding light is at the heart of creating imagery that are vivid and bright. Any person can put themselves in the right place at the right time and capture something beautiful, but learning to blend complex images takes years to master. The keys are to be curious, do your research and make the time to create.”

How Technology Is Making the Art World More Accessible

Technology plays a key role in expanding access to art. It provides a multitude of platforms on which work can be displayed and accessed by a broad range of users on different devices. And The Frame is one of those devices. “We’ve already seen how wonderfully the worlds of art and tech are merging,” West remarks. “Artists have always used the best tools available to them at the time, and they will continue to do so as technology advances.”

The Art Store provides access to an expansive library of artworks to appeal to every taste, mood or setting. This ever-growing collection features pieces from a wide range of eras, as well as contributions from 47 global partners and 626 artists so far.

Fifteen of Dean’s pieces are available today for display on the Art Store and The Frame.

Gone are the days of sitting nose-to-television in order to see every detail and every moment of the action. Now, larger TV screens are not popular for just avid cinephiles, but they are a popular choice and more accessible for more consumers than ever before.

As the size of the average screens at home has evolved, so has the technology within them. This provides users with greater detail, color and motion so content looks even more brilliant in this larger format.

Ushering in the Era of Premium Viewing With Neo QLED 4K
At the forefront of premium screens lie Samsung Neo QLEDs — with state-of-the-art Mini LED and Quantum dot technology that offers superb contrast and vivid, accurate color reproduction. The exceptional picture quality of the Neo QLEDs is even more evident when taken to a larger screen.

The QN100B 98” — Samsung’s Neo QLED 4K — offers consumers the pinnacle of ultra-fine light control thanks to Quantum Matrix Technology powered by a massive grid of Quantum Mini LEDs. This allows viewers to see every single detail on the screen, even in the darkest of scenes, with deeper color and contrast. Subtle nuances in light and color are analyzed and shifted scene by scene so that each and every frame is of the highest quality.

Beyond its unrivaled performance as a television for consumers’ favorite movies, shows and games, this screen has been praised by many industry experts and users as well. IMAX recently commended the massive 98” Neo QLED 4K for its performance in their critical reference environment producing a highly accurate precise image.

“After calibrating and reviewing this new model TV, I can tell you that we were excited to see how closely the image quality matches our reference mastering monitor that we use in post-production finishing work,” said Bruce Markoe, the SVP and Head of Post Production at IMAX Corporation. “We see value in using very large, high-quality displays in mastering content for IMAX Enhanced masters. Having a large sized screen with proper image quality creates the best way to apply and utilize our DMR technology during the mastering process.”

▲ Bruce Markoe, the SVP and Head of Post Production at IMAX Corporation

A reference monitor is a specialized display device used for color grading during post-production. Reference monitors must produce a highly accurate image so teams can create the most precise, high-quality output possible.

In order to provide an outstanding cinematic experience, IMAX films are produced with cameras up to 16K resolution, which means the mastering monitor used must be extremely accurate in order to accurately display the creators’ intent.

Elevate the Premium Viewing Experience With Neo QLED 8K
Stepping above and beyond the already high-performing Neo QLED 4K, consumers find Samsung Neo QLED 8K. These screens offer the dazzling picture quality users have come to expect from Samsung in even more brilliant 8K resolution. Powered by Neo Quantum Processor 8K, the state-of-the-art upscaling neural networks ensure that all content is displayed with utmost precision and immaculate picture quality.

As streaming platforms begin to offer content optimized for a larger 1.9:1 screen ratio, perfect for an immersive cinematic experience, having an 8K TV with premium picture quality is a sure-fire way to future-proof a home entertainment set up.

Premium TV Sales Are on the Rise With Neo QLED 4K and 8K
In fact, more content, better features and more things to do on your TV mean the trend of purchasing larger and larger TV screens is not simply expected to continue to even to grow. According to Omdia, the over-80-inch TV market is expected to grow from 2.8 million units in 2022 to 3.5 million units in 2023 — over 24%.

Samsung’s premium TV lineup has also helped solidify its leadership in the TV industry for an impressive 17 years. In 2022, Samsung sold a staggering 9.65 million units of QLED and Neo QLED TVs, bringing the cumulative sales to 35 million units since its QLED product launch in 2017.

Samsung also dominated the ultra-large TV segment in 2022, reporting 36.1% and 42.9% in terms of market share for TVs over 75-inches and 80-inches respectively.

“Neo QLED offers one of the most premium viewing experience for large screens over 75-inches, and we believe they are the future of home entertainment,” said Seokwoo Yong, Executive Vice President and Deputy Head of Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics. “As more content and features become available to consumers, Neo QLED 4K and 8K TVs will help consumers get the most out of these new contents while providing breathtaking visuals packed with lifelike details.”

It’s been six months since Apple released the iPhone 14 Pro Max, and it still holds the crown as the best smartphone for several reasons. While BGR already reported it has a better camera and a better processor, a test conducted by YouTuber PhoneBuff shows Apple’s biggest phone also beats the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra in a battery test.
Besides the spoiler alert, his video is very interesting as it’s the first time a Galaxy phone lasts for so long in a battery test. Long story short, the iPhone 14 Pro Max beat the S23 Ultra by 30 minutes, and during several hours of the 27-hour long test, it’s Samsung’s phone that actually reigns over the iPhone.
That said, it’s worth noting that while the Galaxy S23 Ultra has a 5,000 mAh battery and the iPhone 14 Pro Max offers a 4,323 mAh battery, it’s Apple’s iPhone that wins the test thanks to optimized applications and better integration between hardware and software.
Image source: PhoneBuff During the tests, the YouTuber starts with a call, then texting, e-mail scrolling, web browsing, and Instagram scrolling. While both phones offer a similar experience, it’s during a 16-hours standby test that the iPhone’s battery drops way below Galaxy S23 Ultra from 73% to 66% (S23 Ultra stays at 69%).
The experiment continues with watching YouTube videos, gaming, playing music, and sending Snapchats. That said, with the Snapchat app, Galaxy S23 Ultra loses the lead as the battery drains from 27% to 15%, and the iPhone remains with 16% of battery life.
To end the test, the YouTuber kept opening all the apps he used from the test until the battery of one of the phones died. That said, it’s Galaxy S23 Ultra that turns off first. By the end of the trial, here’s how each phone performed:
      Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra
Active time: 11h06 Standby: 16h Total: 27h06 iPhone 14 Pro Max
Active time: 11h44 Standby: 16h Total: 27h44 You can watch PhoneBuff with all testings in the full video below.

Samsung Electronics recently completed the installation of an upgraded display solution in the Swiss Life Arena, making it the most modern ice hockey arena in Switzerland. The display solution modernizes the space by providing revamped hardware and software as well as technical support for the ZSC Lions and includes the largest indoor LED cube in Europe. The upgrades were made possible by Samsung’s innovative technology and have enabled the Swiss Life Arena to meet National Hockey League (NHL) standards, a level typically only achieved by North American arenas.

▲ The LED cube installed at the Swiss Life Arena is the largest indoor LED cube in Europe.

As an official display technology partner of the Swiss Life Arena, Samsung outfitted the arena with a wide range of signage products and technical solutions to enhance the customer experience and improve operational efficiency.

“We are proud to present Samsung’s display technology after working with our AV Solution Partner Bild+Ton and the ZSC Lions to equip what is now the most modern ice hockey arena in Switzerland, delivering a world class fan experience,” said Daniel Périsset, Head of CE IT Team, Display and Memory at Samsung Electronics Switzerland. “The unparalleled quality of the solutions will help us deliver the best experiences in the rapidly evolving sports entertainment industry.”

Ground-Breaking Display Solutions To Wow Fans
Samsung installed 669 square meters of LED signage inside the arena, totalling over 18 million LEDs. From players on the side lines to fans in the stands, Samsung’s vibrant display technology allows everyone in the arena to be immersed in the action thanks to brilliant clarity and consistent color presentation. The advanced LED technology provides lifelike picture quality by optimizing brightness levels while eliminating shine and visual inconsistencies.

The central LED Cube display — which measures 12(w)x12(d)x8(h) meters — is the principal element of the fan experience with 416m² of the LED signages. Regardless of where fans sit in the arena’s 12,000 seats, they will be able to enjoy the stunning video display. Designed with premium picture quality and vibrant colors, the Cube will captivate audiences and set the mood using ambient light and sound. During the process of constructing the massive Cube, the teams collaborated to overcome the challenges of keeping the total weight as low as possible and managing the sheer scale of the installation.

▲ The large LED cube and ribbon boards surrounding the entire arena present high-definition picture quality along with ambient lighting and sound.

“You need a reason for fans to come back to the stadium, and we can do so many things now to communicate during the game with the fans. It’s not only the Cube — it’s the screens; it’s the signage,” said Bruno Vollmer, Chief Operating Officer of the ZSC Lions. “The support from Samsung was amazing and we can be proud, all of us, for what we have done.”

To create a fluid and dynamic experience for guests, the Samsung displays include various ribbon boards — long and thin LED screens mounted on the face of balconies — and audio equipment. Thanks to the optimal visibility and low reflection technology of the ribbon boards, fans will not miss any action on or off the field — even in constantly changing lighting conditions.

The content management across all signage displays is supported by MagicINFO 9, the cloud-based solution for the most comprehensive signage offering 24/7 technical support. Managing on-screen content is made simple using Samsung’s powerful MagicINFO 9 solution, which supports content, device and data management across all the displays throughout the entire arena. MagicINFO 9 also allows users to manage content remotely and securely, meaning updates can be made quickly to reflect match details, advertising, or important customer information.

A Connected Experience Throughout The Arena
By delivering a complete display solution, Samsung has helped to enhance every moment of the audience experience at the arena, accompanying visitors from the minute they arrive until they depart. With an upgraded Players Club and a connected customer experience from the concourse to the Business Club, Sports Club and Press Room, fans can explore the arena while staying informed about the latest game updates.

▲ Signage and displays integrated throughout the arena by Samsung allow visitors to explore the venue while not missing out on any of the game action.

To ensure the technology was incorporated into every corner of the arena, Samsung installed 240 strategically located displays across the stadium. The crystal-clear picture quality of Samsung’s smart signage solutions, including the Q-series signage, are on display in the sports bar and around the concourse. Specifically, the ultra-high definition 4K resolution of the QMR series keeps audiences engaged in the action while enjoying food and beverages in the sports bar. In the auditorium, guests will be mesmerized by The Wall (IWA), a massive and awe-inspiring screen offering a vivid visual display. Furthermore, Samsung B2B monitors were selected for the ZSC Lions’ offices due to their high-resolution picture quality and productivity features.

Adrian Wangeler, Chief Executive Officer, Bild+Ton, shared, “Samsung always responds quickly and easily. Working directly with the manufacturer has the advantage of being able to fall back on the specialists and developers.”

As an industry leader in the global signage market for the past 13 consecutive years,1 Samsung stands out in the sports entertainment industries. Following Samsung’s visual display milestones equipping Citi Field and SoFi Stadium, fans can expect an extraordinary experience at Swiss Life Arena — powered by the latest innovations from Samsung.
