As visitors make their way through the line for ‘Safari World: The Wild’ at Everland, Korea’s largest theme park located in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province, a surprising encounter turns the wait into an extension of the safari adventure itself. On a display with true-to-life scale, realistic tigers and lions appear ready to leap out of the screen and into the queue, adding a heightened sense of excitement before the experience begins.

Samsung Electronics recently installed its glasses-free 3D display, Spatial Signage, at the newly renovated Safari World at Everland, adding a new dimension to the visitor experience. Powered by Samsung’s patented 3D Plate technology, the display delivers striking depth and realism without the need for 3D glasses — all within a slim 52-millimeter profile.

Samsung Newsroom visited Everland to see how Spatial Signage is making the wait more engaging and to hear firsthand how visitors responded to the immersive display.

Spatial Signage Sets the Stage for a Safari Adventure

Even before the safari tour begins, visitors are greeted by animals brought to life on Spatial Signage. The vivid movement and “screen-breaking” three-dimensional effect deepen the sense of immersion, building excitement for the adventure ahead.

“Following Safari World’s reopening as a reimagined ecological space with enhanced animal welfare, we wanted to connect every stage of the guest experience — from entry and waiting lines to the safari bus ride — under a unified theme,” said Jiyeon Bae, Leader of Partnership & Alliance Group, Resort Business Division at Samsung C&T. “We saw Spatial Signage as the most effective way to lead guest into the safari adventure.”

Bae added, “To create the atmosphere of a wild expedition, we installed large-scale animal artwork featuring life-size bears, lions and tigers along the waiting route. Extending that visual experience with Spatial Signage, which gives the animals a vivid dimensionality, allowed us to further enhance visitors’ sense of immersion.”

Despite its large 85-inch size, the display also offers considerable flexibility in installation. “Taking into account the attributes of the waiting area, we created a custom frame that blends seamlessly with Safari World’s atmosphere,” Bae said. “This allowed us to position the display naturally within the queue without disrupting the overall environment.”

Bae said watching young children stop to look at the animals on screen shows how Spatial Signage adds a unique element of fun to the waiting area.

“Spatial Signage also plays an important role in building anticipation by giving visitors a preview of the animals they are about to see before boarding the safari bus,” noted Bae. “When young children stop in their tracks after spotting a bear or lion on the screen, their eyes often widen with excitement. It becomes clear that the immersive quality of the content is resonating with guests.”

Turning The Wait Time Into a Fascinating 3D Experience

Visitors on-site responded enthusiastically. In particular, the glasses-free 3D experience changed the mood of the waiting area, making it feel like more than just a place to stand in line. Rather than simply watching the screen, they interacted with the animals, took photos and treated the wait itself as part of the fun.

One visitor who came to Everland with family said, “It felt as if real animals were moving right in front of us. Taking photos with the kids while we waited made the time fly by.” The visitor added, “Seeing the children get excited even before meeting the real animals has made the trip especially worthwhile.” Students visiting on a field trip were equally impressed. “I thought you needed glasses to see 3D, but the tiger looked so real when it seemed to break out of the screen that it genuinely surprised me,” said one student.

Visitors described the vivid movement of the animals on screen as strikingly lifelike.

“Seeing the wild animals we are about to meet truly built the anticipation for the safari,” said a couple waiting in the queue together. “It feels like we have already stepped into the safari before even getting on the bus.” A group of tourists visiting Korea also shared their impressions: “The tigers, lions, and bears look so vividly real, as if alive. It makes the wait so much more enjoyable and helps lift spirits before entering the safari adventure.”

Where Technology Meets Space — A New Spatial Interface

Jin, CEO of Klleon, the content development company, emphasized the role of Spatial Signage, serving as an innovative interface that enables visitors to experience the space itself.

“Spatial Signage goes beyond simply delivering information — it serves as a spatial interface that enables visitors to directly experience the place they are visiting,” said SeungHyuk Jin, CEO of Klleon, which led the content development for Spatial Signage at Safari World. “We focused on capturing the natural movement of the animals and creating a sense of spatial depth so visitors are immediately immersed in the world of safari while waiting in line.”

At Everland’s Safari World, Samsung Spatial Signage helps shape the identity of the space and adds a new layer of immersion to the visitor journey. With innovations like Spatial Signage, Samsung continues to set the standard for immersive and engaging display experiences across industries.

Three-dimensional showcases are a proven way to capture attention in high-traffic retail and public spaces, but traditional boxy installations take up valuable floor space that many brands simply don’t have.
Samsung Spatial Signage changes that. Its slim 52 mm profile, combined with Samsung’s patented 3D Plate technology, delivers depth and dimension without the heavy, boxy structures of conventional 3D signage.
Available in multiple sizes1 — 32-inch, 55-inch and 85-inch — Spatial Signage can be placed on shelves, used to highlight a product zone or anchor a larger feature wall.2 This gives retailers and venues a flexible way to add impact where it matters most, without redesigning the entire space.

Samsung Electronics is spearheading the era of “Bringing Calm to Our Connected World,” where customized experiences aim to enhance users’ lifestyles in ways never before seen. An effective smart home ecosystem gives consumers limitless opportunities for personalized experiences. There are now countless devices that are seamlessly synchronized and easily controlled by the TV.

In line with this goal of seamless connections, Samsung has expanded the hyperconnected experience by partnering with Signify, formerly known as Philips Lighting, to incorporate the Philips Hue Sync TV app into Samsung TVs. These technologies work in perfect harmony to make content more immersive and add a cinematic quality to any home theater set up.

To dive deeper into the collaboration, Samsung Newsroom sat down with AJ Cho from the CX team at the Visual Display Business, Samsung Electronics and Yoojin Hong, Product Marketer of Hue at Signify Korea, to share insights into the partnership’s origin and setup tips to optimize your home entertainment experience.

▲ Philips Hue, synced with Samsung QLED TV, offers an immersive viewing experience that transcends the screen

Industry Leaders Create the Ultimate Entertainment Experience
The partnership between Samsung and Signify goes back to 2020. Philips Hue, known for its smart lighting system that allows users to adjust brightness and color, had just launched the Play HDMI Sync Box in 2019.

“We noticed how the Philips Hue Play HDMI Sync Box could sync lighting with the brightness and color according to the content being played on the screen. This significantly enhanced the viewing experience in a way we had never seen before,” said Cho. “At that moment, we knew we wanted to partner with Signify for a collaboration that would make our two products as cohesive as possible.”

“With years of research into lighting’s impact on human perception and psychology, Philips developed Hue, a sophisticated and intelligent lighting system offering not just adjustable brightness and color temperature, but also a spectrum of 16 million colors,” said Hong. “Teaming up with Samsung, a market leader in TV manufacturing, allowed us to take full advantage of our advanced lighting system. It was clear to me that this collaboration would lead to innovative solutions in home entertainment.”

▲ AJ Cho from the CX team at the Visual Display Business, Samsung Electronics (left) and Yoojin Hong, Product Marketer of Hue at Signify Korea

As a result of this partnership, Samsung TVs were the first in the world to support the Philips Hue Sync TV application. Now, when Philips Hue is paired with a Samsung TV,1 the content is not just on the screen. It envelopes the entire room with lighting that harmonizes with each scene in real-time.

It’s also never been easier to set up. Simply install the app from the app store, attach the light to the back of your TV and pair the light to the TV. The light can be paired with the TV without a separate sync box, instead leveraging the Samsung Smart TV platform.

▲ Philps Hue Play Gradient Lightstrip attached to the back of a TV. The Philips Hue Sync TV app eliminates the need for a separate Sync Box, allowing for a cleaner and easier setup

“Previously, the Sync Box synchronized the lights only via the HDMI cable. In contrast, the Philips Hue Sync TV app allows content and the lights to sync. This means our consumers can enjoy this feature with everything from streaming services to video games,” said Cho. “It’s not only easy to install but also keeps the TV setup clean, with no need for additional cables.”

Smart Lighting Enhances Gaming, Movies, Live Sports and Much More
The Philips Hue Sync TV app supports a wide variety of content, including both game and video mode. The app will automatically use lighting optimized for the game you’re playing or the video you’re watching, synchronized in real-time to the content.

▲ An on/off comparison of Philips Hue Sync (Game Mode) on a Samsung QLED TV

“I strongly recommend using the lights on game mode, which provides immersive lighting based on the genre of the game you’re playing,” said Cho. “Whether it’s a simulation, FPS(First-Person Shooting), or racing game, the extra lighting pulls you in. Players can adjust the intensity of the light based on their preference as well for a highly customized experience.”

▲ An on/off comparison of Philips Hue Sync (Video Mode) on a Samsung QLED TV

Philips Hue also works well with movies or television shows. Cho’s personal favorite is pairing it with a horror movie. “Switching to Video mode with a horror movie transforms the room, immersing the viewer in a chilling, ominous atmosphere that truly elevates the viewing experience.”

▲ An on/off comparison of Philips Hue Sync on a Samsung Smart Monitor

Avid sports fans will also appreciate the synergy between Samsung TV Plus2 and Philips Hue. This combination became especially exciting with the recent launch of the FIFA+ channel3 on Samsung TV Plus. Samsung TV Plus is Samsung’s free, ad-supported streaming TV service. The FIFA+ channel features an extensive collection of FIFA Originals, archives, and highlights from both men’s and women’s soccer.

Cho noted, “Using Philips Hue truly enhances the thrill of watching a game at home. Paired with superior sound and picture quality, the TV and the lighting combination creates a stadium-like atmosphere right in your living room.”

Maximizing Realism in Home Entertainment With Philips Hue
There are a number of key factors which influence how immersive content on screen can be. While the significance of picture and sound quality cannot be overstated, Hong believes that lighting might be the final piece needed to elevate the overall experience.

▲ Philips Hue Sync TV app, available on compatible Samsung Smart TVs, helps automatically sync the smart lighting according to various types of content displayed on the screen including videos and games

“Philips Hue harmonizes with Samsung Smart TV, adjusting its colors in real-time to reflect on-screen content and maximizing a sense of realism on screen,” said Hong. “Whether it’s a movie, TV show, or gaming, Philips Hue is able to precisely catch the changes on screen, intensifying the immersion of the content.”

Find the Perfect Philips Hue Setup for Your Samsung TV
Philips Hue offers a wide lineup of options to suit any home theater set up. Based on their experience, Cho and Hong have handpicked specific Philips Hue products designed to optimize the viewing experience.

▲ Philips Hue Play Gradient Lightstrip (left) and Philips Hue Play Gradient Light Tube (right)

Cho selected the Philips Hue Play Gradient Lightstrip, which can be attached to the back of a TV. “Similar to the way different colors are mixed to make the perfect shade of paint, this light strip uses different shades of light to create the desired ambience,” said Cho. “With its 45-degree beam angle and seamless connectivity, the Play Gradient Lightstrip allows your content and lights to be perfectly in sync.”

Hong prefers the Philips Hue Play Gradient Light Tube. “It’s versatile, easy to install anywhere around the TV, and its greatest strength lies in its customization,” said Hong. “The light tube can be rotated up to 340 degrees, allowing you to direct the lights precisely where you need it in any setup.”

1 The Philips Hue Sync app is available on Samsung Neo QLED and QLED TV models Q60 and above released after 2022. A software update is planned for Q70B and Q700B 2022 models to support the app by the end of 2023.
2 Samsung TV Plus is a free, go-to source for entertainment and sport, available to Samsung Smart TV, Mobile and Tablet customers. Samsung TV models manufactured after 2016 and mobile devices with access to Android 8.0 or higher will have Samsung TV Plus already built in. If your device is compatible, you will be able to download it directly from the Galaxy and Google Play store. Samsung TV Plus is available on Samsung Family Hub refrigerators and the web on select regions.
3 Samsung TV Plus is only available in South Korea, UK, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, France, Italy, Spain, The Netherlands, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland, United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, India, Brazil and Mexico. The mobile app is only available in South Korea, United States, Canada, UK, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, Austria and India.

“Why must we have art daily in our daily lives?” To answer the question, Samsung Newsroom sat down with the Art Store managers to learn how artwork at home can refresh an ordinary day and transform our living spaces.

      Your Life, Centered on Art

The Samsung Art Store is an art subscription service that began in 2017 for The Frame, the company’s lifestyle TV. In partnership with more than 50 museums and galleries worldwide, the service provides more than 2,000 pieces of artwork, ranging from famous paintings to unique pieces from emerging artists. Through this service, users can access various works of art in 4K resolution from the comfort of their own homes.

Even today, consumers can find the traditional ways of viewing art to be unapproachable and inaccessible. However, even if art appreciation seems — at first glance — slightly out of reach, art has the power to benefit our daily lives. “Some people tend to believe that art is distant and difficult, but I believe anything that entertains our eyes and ears is considered art,” Jiyea Kim said. “When you feel exhausted and dull, you can get a boost of energy through art,” added Kim.

Refresh Your Living Space With Digital Art
One of the key features of the Art Store is that users can freely swap out their artwork according to the décor and mood of its surrounding space. There are a wide variety of options available in the Art Store, from renowned masterpieces such as the Mona Lisa by Leonardo da Vinci to the photography by the LIFE Picture Collection, which captured historical moments of the 20th century.

“I personally use The Frame at home, and I can really see how it effectively changes my home interior,” said Kim. “It’s not easy to frequently change a room’s atmosphere, but with The Frame and the Art Store, I can easily change my space with different artworks — even for different seasons or special occasions like Christmas.”

Yeseo Choi suggested bringing out the space through a welcome painting. “Just like how we offer welcome food or drinks, when you have guests over, you can welcome them with their favorite piece of art on The Frame. It will not only give a new vibe to the space, but it will also present a special experience for guests,” she said.

Bringing Artwork to Your Living Room
The Art Store offers more than just artwork: it also provides a description for each piece and information on the artist. It even includes detailed information on the art museum where the piece is displayed. Thanks to such features, users can gain knowledge of the artwork while enjoying it.

“I saw the original artwork of Gustav Klimt at the Belvedere in Austria. I wanted to return to see it more often, but unfortunately could not,” said Choi. “However, I can now see it every day at home, as the works of Klimt have recently been added to the Art Store.”

“The Art Store vividly delivers each piece’s unique texture and characteristics,” said Choi. “So, even if the original artwork is displayed somewhere far away, you can always see the artwork as if you are looking at the original piece — whenever and wherever you are.”

Jiwon Shin was particularly interested in how children would benefit from the service. “With the Art Store, children can view various artworks that may lead to increased creativity,” Shin said. “Art might be difficult and unfamiliar even for adults. But if you start exposing yourself to art at a young age, you can be more familiar and have better perspectives towards it.”

Tips: Curating Art for Your Home
Looking for a painting or a drawing that fits your preference or reflects your mood? The Art Store comes with built-in recommendation features.

Users can utilize the For You feature to get comprehensive art recommendations that reflect all their preferences.

“The For You feature is a customized recommendation feature based on an algorithm,” said Choi. “For instance, if you enter keywords in the comprehensive search option that represent a certain color, such as ‘red’ or ‘green,’ or a certain mood, such as ‘modern’ or ‘light,’ then you’ll get the relevant artworks recommended for you. So, you can easily find artwork that reflects your mood or fits the space.”

An ongoing curation service is available as well. Through regular curation, the home screen of the Art Store shows recommended artworks suited to a particular subject or theme during a certain period of time.

“You can find previous curations from the Curation menu, so you can look up the subject that fits your preference and find relevant artworks anytime you want,” said Shin.

She also recommended the Favorites and Slide Show features. You can add any work of art to Favorites and set up the timing and duration of the Slide Show feature. According to the setting, the piece will automatically switch. Users can set the artwork to change as often as every 10 minutes or as slowly as once every week.

New Screen Experience Transcending Space and Time
The opening of the Art Store launched an era of users enjoying art anywhere, anytime. So, what’s the future of the Art Store? “Right now, this feature is only the Art ‘Store.’ So, we’re looking to expand the service from simply art discovery to different activities and experiences that users can enjoy in their space,” said Choi.

“Since this service is available for everyone regardless of their age or nationality, I hope more users will use this service,” Shin said. “We’re working hard to enhance the platform’s accessibility.”

“Until now, we’ve focused on promoting how users can access art through the service. But now, it’s become important to showcase the appeal of the service itself,” said Kim. “Our goal is to provide a service that brings happiness and satisfaction to the users as an art platform.”
