Creativity lies at the heart of everything we do. It transcends borders and redefines limitations, while cultivating new ideas and bringing them into life. Creatives demand tools that can fuel their artistic pursuits. Tools that translate their dreams and vision into reality. Enter the ViewFinity S9. As part of the ViewFinity S9 Story series (see part 1 with DEVSISTERS and part 2 with OIMU here), Samsung Newsroom sat down with Emmy-winning artist Mike Perry, whose artistic explorations cover a broad spectrum, from the vivid and colorful paintings to whimsical animations and beyond, to talk about how his ViewFinity S9 fits into his creative process. ▲ Mike Perry Mike Perry is an Emmy-winning multidisciplinary artist based in Brooklyn, New York. He is known for his vibrant and imaginative paintings that often encourages viewers to see the world from a fresh perspective. His works often feature playful characters, fluorescent color palettes and intricate patterns, transforming everyday reality into a dreamlike landscape that pushes the boundaries of creativity. Q: Could you tell us a bit about yourself? Oh, hi. I’m Mike Perry. I’m an artist based in New York. I make all kinds of crazy, fun, colorful things — paintings, drawings, animations — and work with incredible clients. I’m living the dream. It’s bright here, but not as bright as this beautiful monitor. Welcome to my studio! Q: What role does your monitor play in your creative process? The monitor is everything. I use it constantly. It’s like a part of my eyeballs. It allows you to see the things you’re making. You can see how they come to life. And you just want them to be as beautiful and true to what’s actually there in the real world. When I’m making a painting, I use it for the final step in the process. Basically, you know, color correcting and taking different elements to make sure my images feel as rich and true as possible. When I work digitally, the monitor is basically just the same thing as the canvas. The monitor is essential. It’s everything. Q: What’s the first thing that stood out when you saw the ViewFinity S9? The first thing that popped out with the ViewFinity S9 was immediately just the color itself. It’s just bananas. I’m kind of obsessed with fluorescent colors. I can’t stop using them. Color is such an important part of my existence. Just look at how rich and bright, lush and gooey the beautiful monitor is. It was just incredible to turn the thing on and just watch it, poof, glow. I was also impressed with how easy it was to just turn on and use. The benefit of making paintings and being a painter is that I’m not always in front of a computer, so when I just popped it open out of the box, it was easy to put together and turn it on. And it just works. Q: What does a Pantone Validated1 monitor mean to creatives? I love Pantone colors. It’s been really great to see how true to life the Pantone Swatches are to the monitor. I mean, the Pantone book is definitely like a color bible. It’s essential. But then, you’re always dealing with the reality of what’s on screen versus what you’re going to print with. You always have to take a leap of faith that it’s going to match up because the digital to print world is so mysterious. So, it’s just been really lovely to know that what I’m looking at is the same as the color on the swatches. It’s incredible. Q: Speaking of color accuracy, have you tried the Smart Calibration feature? What did you think of it? I love the Smart Calibration feature.2 It was so easy to use, and the app is so straightforward. You want things to represent themselves in the truest form so that you know what you’re creating is going to translate across multiple platforms and different mediums. I love that I’m able to make sure that the colors are represented the way that I want them to be. That’s such a nice guarantee. Q: What other features help bring your artistic visions to life? One of the headaches that is given to digital artists is working widescreen versus 9:16. In normal screens, you can only see a little bit of 9:16 so it’s such a bummer. So, being able to turn the screen and see the image the way it’s supposed to is just amazing! The Matte Display has been so lovely. The sun comes in the morning and pops through the windows, and it’s my favorite part of the day but it just smashes right into my screen. It’s just been lovely to not have sunlight disrupt my process and not have to step away from my computer while the sun is doing its beautiful thing. I also have The Frame TV at home, so I’m quite used to the Matte Display at this point. Q. What else can you tell us about your ViewFinity S9 monitor? Lastly, the camera is great. The angle is really nice and I love this security guard. If I want to talk to somebody, I can jump on, and if not, then I’m free. No one’s watching me. Q. Would you recommend ViewFinity S9 to other designers? I find it incredibly important to have a beautiful monitor. Something with a lot of resolution, something that’s going to give me the best that I can get and need for what I’m working on. I’ll just say about ViewFinity S9 that color is good. 1 The ViewFinity S9 authentically reproduces more than 2,000 colors which can be found in the PANTONE Guide. Pantone Validated uses the universally recognized Pantone Matching System (PMS) digital library and objectively tests more than 2000+ Pantone colors. 2 Smart Calibration enables users to conveniently customize the ViewFinity S9’s screen for precise settings — including color temperature, luminance, color space and gamma settings — using their smartphones, without expensive, complex calibration equipment. Available on Galaxy S10 or later, Galaxy Note10 or later, Galaxy Fold devices, Galaxy Flip devices, iPhone 11 or later and the second generation iPhone SE 2 or later. Latest version of the SmartThings app required. View the full article

Samsung Electronics announced today that models1 in its 2023 Neo QLED and QLED lineup have earned the “Low Vision Care” certification from TÜV Rheinland. This certification is awarded to products that adhere to standards designed to assist viewers affected by Amblyopia, a type of visual impairment, by enhancing image presentation and improving vision detection. “Technological innovation gains true meaning when it is available to everyone, so we’re thrilled to receive this certification that underscores our work to build features to make viewing more accessible,” said Seok Woo Yong, EVP and Deputy Head of Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics. “Under Samsung’s mission of ‘Screens Everywhere, Screens for All,’ we will continue to deliver premium screens that cater to the needs of every viewer.” To improve the viewing experience for consumers with different types of low vision, Samsung developed Relumino Mode, which enhances specific parts of videos — such as highlighting outlines and improving contrast and sharpness — so that it is easier to discern content on the screen and follow the actions. Amblyopia, also known as lazy eye, occurs in about three percent of children, making it one of the more common low vision problems experienced in childhood. In most cases of amblyopia, a child’s brain ignores the signals coming from one eye, meaning it only develops pathways to the other eye. TÜV Rheinland, a leading international certification body, awards its “Low Vision Care” certification by evaluating how technology impacts the user experience for those with amblyopia. It conducts various tests that compare how normal display modes and the Relumino Mode differ in clarity, sharpness and overall visual comfort. In addition to this latest certification, Samsung screens have also received the “Circadian Rhythm Display” certification and “Eye Care” certification from Verband Deutscher Elektrotechniker (VDE), as well as the “Glare-Free” validation from Underwriters Laboratories (UL) for its technologies that offer a safer, more comfortable viewing experience. It also received the “Pantone Validated” and “Skin Tone Validated” certifications from Pantone, signifying that certified Samsung screens meet the organization’s color accuracy standards. This growing list of accolades highlights how innovation can positively influence consumer experiences with technology and reinforces Samsung’s global TV leadership over the past 17 years. Samsung Electronics unveiled a video detailing the inspiring journey behind the development of its groundbreaking MICRO LED technology, highlighting the meticulous quality and dedication behind the technology. ▲ “MICRO LED: A Journey to Redefine Limits” provides a glimpse into the development of the groundbreaking technology. Samsung’s MICRO LED: The Pinnacle of Next-Generation Display Technology For 18 consecutive years, Samsung has led the global TV market with its unwavering dedication to innovation. The latest feat, MICRO LED, stands as a testament to this legacy. Poised to define the next generation of display technology, MICRO LED is the culmination of Samsung’s state-of-the-art manufacturing excellence and decades of experience in the industry. As the name suggests, these displays utilize LEDs that are a mere 100㎛ in size, even slimmer than a strand of human hair. In particular, the size of the LEDs for MICRO LED is smaller than 50㎛, which is only 10% of typical LEDs for B2B products. Unlike traditional displays, MICRO LED is self-emissive, producing its own light and color without the need for backlights or color filters. The result is a brighter, sharper display that captures the intricacies of the real world with unmatched precision. Furthermore, the inorganic RGB of the self-emissive display ensures freedom from burn-ins and provides exceptional brightness and picture quality for nearly 100,000 hours. ▲ The video explains Samsung researchers’ meticulous approach to MICRO LED. Of course, it wasn’t an overnight success. Samsung researchers spent more than half a decade venturing into unexplored terrains to pioneer this unique technology. Many industry skeptics doubted its viability, pointing to the complexity and precision it demanded. However, with a relentless pursuit of perfection and an unwavering dedication to craftsmanship, the team overcame the technical challenge, ultimately creating what many consider the apex of display technology. Exceptional Viewing, Meticulous Making: The MICRO LED Process Much like how a gemologist uses precise measures to identify the finest diamonds, Samsung engineers employ advanced technologies and stringent criteria to select only the highest-quality MICRO LEDs. “These MICRO LEDs meet exacting standards for luminance, dispersion and rank, ensuring unmatched performance never before seen on traditional screens,” said KJ Lee at the MICRO LED Product Development Group. “The superior quality of LED materials, combined with their consistent sizes, allow us to arrange them in a densely packed manner and deliver a truly exceptional viewing experience.” ▲ Samsung engineers meticulously select top-quality MICRO LEDs, similar to selecting the finest diamonds, to provide an unmatched screen performance. “During the development process, we’ve sifted through over 10 billion LED units to develop a cutting-edge surface mount technology, allowing us to intricately position 24 million MICRO LEDs, each slimmer than a human hair, on the panel,“ explained Jeongin Han at the Manufacturing Process R&D Group. “In addition, Samsung’s nanometer technology, borrowed from the company’s semiconductor expertise, successfully narrows the edge of the modules to create a seamless screen of any size.” Each module, assembled with precision using ultra-fine process technology, undergoes extensive testing, ensuring that all 24 million pixels are flawless. This thorough process guarantees that customers will have a defect-free viewing experience for a decade. ▲ The extensive calibration of MICRO LEDs ensures lifelike colors and clarity. Following the extensive testing phase, the MICRO LEDs proceed to the calibration phase. This is where the display’s picture quality is adjusted to achieve lifelike colors and clarity. “Each MICRO LED display undergoes over 40,000 calibration rounds, systematically classified from pixel level to module, bloc, and the final product,” said Tetsuya Shigeta, who is in charge of display module design at the Core Technology Group. Experience the Future of Display in Your Living Room As a result of the intricate process, MICRO LED offers an unparalleled visual experience never before seen on a consumer display. These self-emissive RGB LEDs provide pure light and color without any filters — immersing users fully, whether it be movies, sports or documentaries. This revolutionary technology ensures optimal efficiency and minimal light loss, producing images that blur the lines between screen and reality. ▲ MICRO LED presents the ultimate viewing experience with unmatched picture quality. Recognizing the soaring demand for ultra-large and premium displays, Samsung is launching a range of MICRO LED displays this year. Spanning from 76 to 114 inches, these displays cater to customers seeking unmatched picture quality and cutting-edge technology. “Color” is more than just a design element. It is a profound language that bridges emotions and experiences, allowing artists to create evocative messages that resonate on a deeper level. It is a vital component in the toolkit of any creative professional. Accurate monitors like the ViewFinity S9 provide artists with the ability to see and express color accurately across various mediums, granting them total control over their artwork. This ensures that the final products are aligned with the artist’s original intent. OIMU Studio, a design powerhouse in Korea, believes that design should act as a “connector.” Their work forges links between the values of the past and present, and between Eastern and Western traditions. Through various projects, including the renowned “Color,” “Nobang” and “Match” projects, OIMU provides these connections to their audience, blending cultural traditions and offering a fresh and modern perspective to elements of the past. In this second installment of the ViewFinity S9 Story series, Samsung Newsroom sat down with Sohyun Shin of OIMU Studio to explore her inspirations and find out how ViewFinity S9 has become a vital tool in her artistic pursuit. ▲ Sohyun Shin, Founder and Chief Designer of OIMU Established in 2015, OIMU is a lifestyle brand and design studio known for bridging cultural differences and reinterpreting nostalgic objects with a modern flair. Led by Sohyun Shin, the studio boasts with portfolio of projects that connect various traditional Korean elements with contemporary aesthetics. Q. Could you briefly introduce OIMU to our readers? OIMU is a lifestyle brand and design studio, dedicated to celebrating and promoting the cultural values and traditions of Korea through design and content. We are involved in publishing, exhibitions and products as well. One of our most well-known work is the “Color” project, which created over 350 unique color names in Korean. We aim to reinterpret Korea’s rich cultural heritage through design. Q. Can you tell us about your recent project using the ViewFinity S9? The “Color” project began with a goal to develop unique color names, typically in foreign languages, in Korean. Recently, we made 100 color name cards for a brand exhibition. As these unique set of colors had precise CMYK values, it was important to express the colors as accurately as possible, to highlight those subtle and nuanced differences. The ViewFinity S9 monitor helped us match our print values to our digital designs, and we were able to prepare the final print as intended. ※ CMYK: A color model used in color printing with four ink plates: cyan, magenta, yellow and key (in many cases, black). Outside of the “Color” project, we also work with many delicate illustrations, which can appear blurry and unclear at places like print shops with ordinary monitors. ViewFinity S9, in contrast, presented images with outstanding clarity, allowing us to confidently move on with the card designs. I recently underwent LASIK surgery to improve my eyesight. If prior monitors reminded me of my sight before LASIK, the ViewFinity S9 felt like seeing with improved vision after! It has undoubtedly been a transformative tool. Q. What is the most important factor when selecting a monitor? Much of OIMU’s work, like any design studio, require attention to details. So, high resolution is essential. High resolution monitors allow us to be more intuitive and help us work on intricate designs by showing the subtle differences in colors and details. Data processing is key in ensuring that physical prints turn out high-quality. ViewFinity S9 significantly reduces the margin of error during this process. When comparing digital and physical prints, you’ll find them nearly identical. In essence, ViewFinity S9 helps us create higher quality designs. Q. What are your favorite features of ViewFinity S9? There were reflections when we were using ordinary monitors, forcing us to use blinds. With ViewFinity’s Matte Display, reflections are minimized and colors are accurate even in sunlight. Now, I can work while enjoying the view and natural light. Our studio has many windows, so, monitor glare is unavoidable. I like to work with the view of nature. ViewFinity S9 minimizes glares and reflections, so I can accurately check the colors even when it is bright outside. Q. How else did ViewFinity S9 change your work environment? Color temperature is another important aspect in our line of work. With ViewFinity’s Smart Calibration feature,1 we can calibrate precise onscreen colors without additional and often expensive equipment. Also, ViewFinity S9 is great when I want to take a break from work, since I can watch my favorite shows on OTT streaming apps.2 I also just love this cute remote control. Q. Would you recommend ViewFinity S9 to other designers? Designers spend countless hours in front of monitors. To me, ViewFinity S9 stands as an optimal choice for both eye comfort and faithful expression of images and color. If you are a creative professional seeking a premium display, you won’t be disappointed with ViewFinity S9. 1 Smart Calibration enables users to conveniently customize the ViewFinity S9’s screen for precise settings — including color temperature, luminance, color space and gamma settings — using their smartphones, without expensive, complex calibration equipment. Gaming monitors are one of the most powerful tools for esports players, especially when it comes to notching up the gaming experience through wider viewing angles and faster refresh rates. This year marks the third anniversary of the partnership between Samsung Electronics and T1, a South Korean esports team with a series of championship wins under its belt. Since 2020, Samsung has been providing T1 with Odyssey gaming monitors to showcase the company’s cutting-edge technology to gamers and audiences alike. ▲ The Odyssey Neo G9 57” (G95NC) and T1 team (from left: ‘Keria’, ‘Gumayusi’, ‘Faker’, ‘Oner,’ and ‘Zeus’) To celebrate the release of the 2023 gaming monitor lineup, Samsung unveiled a series of three brand videos featuring the 57-inch Odyssey Neo G9, the 49-inch Odyssey OLED G9 (G95SC) and the upgraded 55-inch Odyssey Ark (G97NC). These films were produced by renowned South Korean director Yunsung Kang — most known for “The Outlaws” (2017), “Long Live the King” (2019) and “Big Bet” (2022). In a modern-meets-medieval battle adventure, viewers can follow the T1 team and watch how Samsung gaming monitors play a shocking twist. Samsung Newsroom sat down with Director Yunsung Kang and T1 members ‘Keria’, ‘Gumayusi’, ‘Faker’, ‘Oner’ and ‘Zeus’ to learn more about their behind-the-scenes experience. ▲ ‘Faker’ experiences the Odyssey Neo G9 57”. Q. What are your thoughts on the new Odyssey models? ‘Faker’: The Odyssey monitors just keep getting better. The new 57-inch Odyssey Neo G9 is truly impressive with its massive screen that commands attention. I didn’t realize its size from a distance, but I fully grasped its scale when I got closer. The Odyssey Neo G9 is the ideal choice for those who prefer a larger monitor. ‘Oner’: The Odyssey OLED G9 is so large that it almost resembles a TV, rather than a typical monitor. This could also be useful when watching videos. ‘Zeus’: All of the monitors boast huge dimensions. The ultra-wide screen helps me play League of Legends strategically, offering a wide view of the map and an incredibly immersive gaming experience. ▲ ‘Faker’ and ‘Oner’ from T1 practice gaming on the Odyssey OLED G9. ▲ (From left) ‘Gumayusi’ and ‘Keria’ from T1 try out Multi View on the 2023 Odyssey Ark. Q. As a gamer, what is your top priority when choosing a monitor? ‘Faker’: Most gamers value response time and refresh rate. I prefer a monitor with a fast response time to minimize ghosting. ‘Oner’: Refresh rate is the most important factor for me. I always check whether a monitor supports a 240Hz refresh rate. ‘Keria’: Although I use a monitor with a 240Hz refresh rate, monitors with 144Hz or higher refresh rates are sufficient for most users. ‘Gumayusi’: Unlike some gamers, I’m not very sensitive to monitor specifications. However, since I’m used to high refresh rates, switching to low-quality specs could hinder my skills. I want to focus solely on the game itself. ‘Zeus’: I agree with ‘Oner’ — refresh rate is crucial for me too. I used to have a monitor with a 60Hz refresh rate, but the gaming experience was so much smoother once I switched to one with a higher refresh rate. I can’t imagine going back to a low-refresh rate monitor now. Yoonsung Kang, the director behind the 2021 Odyssey Neo G9 brand film, has returned to work on the 2023 Odyssey brand films. ▲ Yoonsung Kang has directed many Odyssey brand films. Q. What was your main objective when planning this Odyssey brand film? Yoonsung Kang: My top priority for this project was to focus on the monitors’ immense size. As such, I planned a concept around a large-scale medieval battle to effectively showcase the Odyssey’s advantages. Q. Can you share some of the highlights from this brand film? Kang: One of the standout moments in these videos is the unexpected plot twist. The story follows the T1 team changing the course of a battle — then, a twist unfolds. Just when the members believe they won the battle, ‘Faker’ expands the screen to reveal more enemies approaching from both sides. It’s a plot twist that’s bound to captivate viewers. ▲ Excerpts from the Odyssey brand film starring the T1 team, with ‘Faker’ shown on the right ▲ ‘Faker’ from T1 on the production site for the new Odyssey brand film. ▲ ‘Zeus’ (left) and ‘Oner’ (right) from T1 show off the choreography used in the brand film. ▲ ‘Gumayusi’ (left) and ‘Keria’ (right) participate in the Odyssey brand filming. ▲ The T1 members learn choreography during filming. Q. What was it like to step away from your usual game matches and daily training to participate in this brand film? ‘Oner’, ‘Zeus’ and ‘Keria’: We were truly impressed that the choreography incorporated our signature poses. While we were worried at first — we’re not dancers — the choreographer’s detailed directions helped us finish the project successfully. I hope our fans enjoy the videos. ‘Faker’: All in all, it was a new and refreshing experience. I’ve been on TV shows with numerous cameras before, but this was my first time dancing. I felt a bit awkward yet excited at the same time. ▲ The Odyssey Neo G9 57” and T1 members (from left: ‘Keria’, ‘Gumayusi’, ‘Faker’, ‘Oner’ and ‘Zeus’) Q. Out of the Odyssey monitors you’ve had the chance to try out, which one is your favorite? ‘Faker’: My favorite is the 49-inch Odyssey OLED G9. I like its fast response time and sleek metal design on the back. ‘Zeus’: The 49-inch Odyssey OLED G9 is my top pick as well. The Infinity Core lighting displays mesmerizing rainbow colors, and the metal design gives the monitor a chic vibe. ‘Keria’: For me, the 57-inch Odyssey Neo G9 is the most appealing — the white and glossy back cover feels luxurious. ‘Gumayusi’: I’ve already used the Odyssey Ark at T1 HQ’s lounge and enjoyed the Multi View feature since I like to play multiple games simultaneously. Because I prefer large screens, my top choice is the 57-inch Odyssey Neo G9. ‘Oner’: It’s honestly difficult to pick just one. The new Odyssey models are amazing with their large screens and wide displays. I like them all. Throughout their years of collaboration, Samsung Art Store and Tate have worked together to make art more accessible to consumers worldwide. As a result, users of The Frame can put works from Tate’s extensive collection on display within their own homes. The two have worked together since 2018 to leverage the Art Store platform to bring culture into the homes of users around the world, and to enrich users’ lives. ▲ Tate Britain Samsung Newsroom sat down with Rosey Blackmore, Licensing and Merchandise Director at Tate, to discuss technology’s impact on our art experiences and on art accessibility, among other topics. Read on to find out more. Years of Collaboration Bringing Art Into the Home Q: Tell us a bit about your role at Tate and your experience working with Samsung Art Store. I’m responsible for our licensing and merchandise at Tate, where our team creates and licenses products featuring art from Tate’s collection. Our gallery spaces are free to visit, and all income that we generate helps make that possible, so it’s a very satisfying role. We’ve been really delighted to work with Samsung on their Art Store. Our mission at Tate is to enable the public to enjoy art, so this project contributes to that. As the Art Store has grown in popularity, we have been really interested to see which images are the most viewed, and to refresh and add new art to the selection available in light of those trends we see. Q: How are pieces from the Tate’s expansive collection chosen for The Frame? It’s difficult, as we have so many to choose from! There are more than 80,000 works in Tate’s collection, but we try and select those that we feel people will enjoy living with, as well as some that are very familiar. Q: Have you noticed any interesting trends over the years in what pieces users are most attracted to in Samsung’s Art Store? Yes, we really have. For example, one of the most popular works is Arenig, North Wales by James Dickson Innes, who isn’t a very well- known artist, but this is a particularly gorgeous work of a mountain viewed from across a lake and has beautiful violet hues. So, I imagine it brings a sense of calm to those who choose to display it on The Frame. ▲ Arenig, North Wales by James Dickson Innes Engaging a Diverse Audience Through Art Q: What work has Tate done recently to build upon its vision to engage diverse audiences and help develop individual creative potential? Why is this part of Tate’s mission? Engaging a more diverse audience is absolutely at the heart of the work that we are doing at Tate. It’s something that we are passionate about because it reflects our belief that art enriches lives, and that everyone has the right to that experience. For many years now, we have been ensuring that the art we collect and exhibit represents as diverse a range of backgrounds and experiences as possible. At Tate Modern, 50% of our program features art created by women, and at Tate Britain the same is true of our contemporary displays and exhibitions. Because of our fundamental belief that art enriches lives, Tate also offers an extensive range of free family programs throughout the year, aimed at encouraging children to be creative Q: In your opinion, how has Tate leveraged The Frame and Art Store to further support its mission for engaging an inclusive and diverse audience? We love that Samsung’s Art Store enables more people to access our collection and broadens the number of people enjoying art. And, perhaps some will become curious about the artworks they are seeing and choose to find out more about them too. That directly supports our mission to encourage both the enjoyment and understanding of art across diverse audiences. Q: Out of the works of art selected for the Art Store, which three would you recommend users display on The Frame? My first suggestion of the three artworks from the Art Store would be the very beautiful Abstract Composition by Jessica Dismorr, for its subtle and calm color palette. ▲ Abstract Composition by Jessica Dismorr The second would be Blue House on the Shore by Paul Nash, as it’s a wonderfully enigmatic and romantic image. ▲ Blue House on the Shore by Paul Nash And finally, a very personal choice which is Carnation, Lily, Lily, Rose by John Singer Sargent, as this is a painting that I’ve loved since I first visited Tate as a teenager, and I still find it as extraordinary now as I did then. When you walk into the gallery where the picture hangs, the painted lanterns somehow seem to light the room, and The Frame would recreate that magical experience. ▲ Carnation, Lily, Lily, Rose by John Singer Sargent Leveraging Technology To Enhance Human Experiences Q: In what ways has Tate leveraged technology to provide an enhanced visitor experience at the museum? A good example is ‘Tate Draw’ where children can use special software and screens in the galleries to create their own artworks inspired by Tate’s collection, with their finished designs projected on the walls. Technology is expanding the ways in which we can all be creative. Q: Do you anticipate any implications that technology will have on the art world? Technology is undoubtedly affecting all aspects of our lives, and we need to embrace it. There’s no doubt that technological advancements will have profound effects on the way that we access and experience art. Tate is always considering how we can reduce the carbon footprint of our activities— technology may offer interesting opportunities for this in the future, such as digital experiences of art rather than shipping the original artworks. Q: Are there any upcoming events or special activities Tate has planned that you can tell us about? Tate’s exhibition programme always strives to offer a diverse range of content and this autumn is no exception! At Tate Britain, women are taking centre-stage with a major survey exhibition of the humorous and irreverent work of Sarah Lucas as well as a group show exploring the radical work of feminist artists working in Britain during the 1970s and 80s. ▲ Tate Modern At Tate Modern, artists from across the African continent are a key focus, with this year’s annual new commission for the gallery’s iconic Turbine Hall being created by Ghanian artist El Anatsui. A major survey of contemporary photography by artists working across Africa and its diaspora remains on show until the new year, joined by a retrospective of Philip Guston, one of the most influential and important American painters of the 20th century. ▲ Tate Liverpool Down at Tate St Ives, visitors can continue to enjoy a revelatory group exhibition exploring the experimental paintings made by artists working in Casablanca during the 1960s and 70s, while Tate Liverpool will embark on an exciting new program in collaboration with the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA). The partnership will see a range of new exhibitions and events staged at RIBA’s building at Mann Island in Liverpool during the gallery’s temporary closure period for redevelopment, due to be completed in autumn 2025. ▲ Tate St. Ives Visit Samsung Art Store in The Frame to see more of Tate’s collection.
