  1. At Innovation For All (IFA) 2025, Samsung Electronics showcased its vision for “AI Home: Future Living, Now”. Samsung’s AI Home aims to be a reality people can experience today — not just in the future — and one designed for everyone, not just a select few. “At Samsung, we’re not just imagining the future of AI; we’re building it into everyday life. Samsung’s AI Home moves beyond smart devices to homes that truly understand you, adapt to your needs and care for what matters most,” said Cheolgi Kim (CK), Executive Vice President and Head of Digital Appliances (DA) Business. “This is the beginning of a new era — where technology supports your life in the background so that you can live it more fully.” Samsung’s AI Home experience is designed to make everyday living more convenient, efficient, healthy and safe. Samsung research1 reveals that 66% of consumers find the idea of an AI-enabled home appealing, with many envisioning streamlined daily tasks (44%) and greater control via phone or voice commands (45%). AI Home, with SmartThings automated routines, delivers on this vision — automating lighting, temperature and even syncing blinds with the weather for effortless living.2 The home is a sanctuary for 93% of people and a social hub for 80%. As families spend more time together, AI Home enhances shared moments with wellness checks, personalised sleep settings and nutrition planning. Energy efficiency is one of the main benefits consumers look for from AI. 66% believe an AI enabled home can help track costs and save money. With SmartThings Energy, AI Home can reduce washing machine energy use by up to 70%.3,4 Security remains critical, with 40% expecting AI to improve home protection through timely alerts. Samsung Knox Vault safeguards sensitive data at the hardware level, while Knox Matrix extends protection across connected devices with ecosystem-wide security.5 Bespoke AI Enhances AI Capabilities Samsung’s latest Bespoke AI appliances have taken AI features to a new level, offering a better living experience in both the kitchen and other spaces: Bespoke AI Jet Bot Steam Ultra: Upgraded with improved AI Object Recognition,6 it can now detect liquids,7 even transparent ones. Bespoke AI Washer: AI Wash+ enables a laundry experience that better fits your clothes. It clears the minimum threshold for a Grade A in energy efficiency testing by 65%.8 Bespoke AI Dishwasher: AI Wash optimises the cleaning cycle based on how dirty the dishes are,9 and Auto Open Door allows steam to escape, accelerating the drying process. Extractor Induction Hob: Integrating the extractor into the hob maximises kitchen space. Vision AI Expands to Larger Displays Samsung’s Vision AI Companion is designed to feel more like a trusted companion — someone you can engage with naturally, and that responds in a human-like way — redefining home entertainment. Pursuing an open platform approach, Samsung is strengthening its partnerships with global AI technology leaders, including Google, Microsoft and Perplexity. Other highlights included: Micro RGB: A 115” display delivering cinema-quality visuals at home with perfect colour, bringing every scene to life with stunning depth and vibrancy. The Movingstyle: A portable touchscreen TV with built-in battery and adaptive AI — perfect for any room or on the go. Samsung Sound Tower: Powerful, portable sound with an 18-hour battery.10 You can strengthen the party mood with customisable lighting and sound effects via the dedicated app. Galaxy AI Expands With New Devices Starting with the Galaxy S24 series and a commitment to democratise Galaxy AI to over 200 million devices in 2024, Samsung Galaxy has defined a new era of mobile AI innovation. Now, the latest Galaxy AI experience comes to new products, designed to ensure a seamless mobile experience on a wider range of devices with multimodal capabilities. By the end of 2025, Samsung aims to bring the Galaxy AI experience to over 400 million devices worldwide. Experience Future Living, Now at IFA 2025 The Samsung exhibition at IFA will be open from September 5 – 9 at the CityCube, Berlin.   4. On Galaxy Watch, Complications are small bits of useful information other than time, such as battery level, calendar events, or step count. These details are displayed in predefined areas called Complication Slots. You can set up different Complication Slots on your watch face using Watch Face Studio to customize the kind of information you want to display. The actual data used to populate these slots comes from other applications, known as Complication Data Sources. In this blog, we’ll explore building a Complication Data Source that allows your application to seamlessly share information with any compatible watch face on your Galaxy Watch running Wear OS powered by Samsung. Whether it is weather forecast, battery status or custom application stats, you'll learn how to deliver that data in a way that watch faces can easily access and display. Prerequisite Install the latest version of Android Studio. Download the starting project: starting_project_complication.zip Set up an emulator or connect your Galaxy Watch to your PC using Wireless Debugging. NoteThis blog requires you to have a basic understanding of native Android application development in Java or Kotlin. Run the starting project once to make sure everything is working as expected. This installs a sample application named Hydration Tracker. With it, you can log how many glasses of water you have had during the day and set a daily goal to stay on track. You will use this simple application to explore how you can share your data with a watch face. The project already includes all the required dependencies and core application logic, so you can jump straight into working on the data-sharing aspect. Figure 1: Sample application screenshot All the required data is stored in SharedPreferences as key-value pairs, which makes it easy to retrieve when building the Complication Data Source. Alternatively, you can use Jetpack DataStore if you prefer a more modern and scalable solution for managing application data. Implement Complication Data Source Service The complication needs data even when your application is not running. The way we do that is by implementing a Service that provides the data to the complication. Extract the starting project and open the starting_project_complication folder in Android Studio. Right-click on the java directory and add a new package named com.example.customcomplication.complication. Figure 2: Package structure Right-click on the complication package and select New > Kotlin Class/File. Name the class something like HydrationComplicationService.   9. Introduction The Samsung IAP Publish API enables developers to efficiently manage in-app purchase (IAP) products within applications. This API serves as the foundation for handling CRUD (Create, Read, Update, Delete) operations related to digital products available for purchase. Developers can use this API to view existing in-app products, register new products, modify product details such as price and description, and remove products that are no longer needed. As a part of this article, we will develop a backend application server and a web application to streamline Samsung IAP product management. The backend server will communicate with the Samsung server through the Samsung IAP Publish API, handling requests related to IAP products to ensure smooth integration and operation. The web application will provide an intuitive, user-friendly interface, allowing developers and administrators to visually manage Samsung IAP products in a structured and organized manner. By implementing this system, developers can significantly reduce manual effort while maintaining better control over their IAP products. Additionally, the Publish API enables a unified product backend, helping standardize workflows, enforce consistent policies, and maintain clear audit trails—further enhancing the design and operational efficiency of IAP management.   15. If you are looking for a visual approach to designing watch faces, Watch Face Studio is a great option. It offers an easy-to-use interface and doesn’t require any coding skills. However, if you want to have more control, Watch Face Format is the way to go. It lets you define your watch face using XML. The declarative structure is designed specifically for Wear OS, giving you precise control over appearance and behavior. Watch faces built this way are easier to maintain and require fewer updates than those using the older Jetpack Watch Face libraries, since the platform handles key rendering and performance improvements automatically. This blog shows how to convert a Wear OS application project to a watch face that uses Watch Face Format in Android Studio. Let’s walk through a simple project. You start by setting up the environment. Next, you set up the project and build the watch face using Watch Face Format. Then, you move on to customizing the watch face, defining its appearance, layout and components using the declarative structure. Once the design is complete, you validate the memory footprint to ensure it stays within platform limits and check the XML structure to catch any potential issues. PrerequisiteDownload the latest version of Android Studio on your computer. Project Setup Create a new Empty Wear App. Go to File -> New -> New Project -> Wear OS -> No Activity from Android Studio. Make Sure Minimum SDK is 34 or higher since Watch Face Format version 2 is used. In Android Studio, switch the file structure to Project view by selecting Project from the dropdown menu at the top of the Project Tool Window. Figure 1: Project view Go to the AndroidManifest.xml file, remove the existing attributes from the <application> tag and add the following attributes: android:label="@string/app_name" android:hasCode="false" tools:ignore="MissingApplicationIcon" Click on app_name and press Shift+F6 to refactor it. In the root directory, create a new directory named libs. Download memory-footprint.jar and wff-validator.jar from here and put them in the libs directory. Generate the app-debug.apk file before executing the next command. Samsung Electronics today announced that its latest TVs, monitors and commercial display products have been technically evaluated for compliance with the European Union’s Radio Equipment Directive (RED), including updated cybersecurity requirements that take effect on August 1, 2025. “With the growing emphasis on security in the industry, we are strengthening security features to stay ahead of this evolving trend,” said Taeyong Son, Executive Vice President of Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics. “In addition to this achievement, we are committed to introducing innovations with advanced security and technology globally, thereby reinforcing customer trust in our solutions.” The EU’s RED, introduced in 2016, establishes essential requirements for the safety, electromagnetic compatibility and efficient spectrum use of radio-equipped products. These new provisions will become mandatory starting August 2025.
